The only thing that happened 1 to 1 was the timeskip, virtually everything else has deviated. Friede didn't betrayed them, there aren't 18 hero Pokemon, Arven didn't showed up in the first 12 episodes and listing all the other changes are just redundant to get the point home. And if they haven't used them for over a hundred episodes then they're gonna stay that way.

There was never any plans to bring her back in the first place, the "source" is a note about bringing back characters from older gens and aging them, then they use a picture of Iris to illustrate this, though with a note saying "picture for illustration purposes only, not necessarily this character"
