Can confirm. While it's true that some things Amourshippers try to point to were things he had done before with Misty, May, and/or Dawn (e.g., he held hands with all of them in some way, shape, or form), it's undeniable that he was notably more protective of Serena and seemed especially interested in keeping her happyβhe never seriously gave a Rattata's ass about Misty, May, Dawn, or Iris being angry by him when they bickered, but in the infamous fight episode, he visibly showed deep regret on his face just after the first snowball to his back when he saw the deep pain on Serena's face, as if he knew he'd crossed a line that he knew better than to cross. She also had a unique influence on how he acted, and he had a "way with words" that he never had with any other past girl.
