Anime Ra was essentially just a plot device that let the villain cheat his way out of losing.
Card Game Ra is actually just a terrible card that forces you to either pay all your life to get a vanilla beater, or protect a 0 atk monster that can pop monsters on your turn by paying 1/8 of your starting life per pop. It has really funny modern support but the support basically turns it into a different card.
