Drakloak is that deck's main draw engine as well as being needed to get into Dragapult so he's basically working with half of his main resource until he gets them from his prizes. People generally draw from the bottom so he's never seeing the top one and the middle one will take a bit to get to and what's worse is that the Gardevoir deck he's against uses single prize attackers in a meta that favors ex cards that give out two.

>For the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon Tropical Mega Battle was an international Pokémon Trading Card Game tournament held annually from 1999 to 2002 in Hawaii by Wizards of the Coast (the distributor of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in many regions outside of Japan at the time). Players from Canada, Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Japan were invited to the event. After Wizards of the Coast's license to distribute the Pokémon Trading Card Game reverted to The Pokémon Company in 2003, this event was replaced by the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships.
>In September 2000, to coincide with the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, the first ever Pokémon World Championship was also held in Sydney. Players from Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States competed using Pokémon Red and Blue and Pokémon Yellow. This was a one-time event, with a video game World Championship not being held again until 2009.

This has always been a rich people's hobby because of how much traveling is done. Poorfags can't qualify for shit when they've got to travel to eight regionals to be able to make it to worlds. And then there's the worlds trip, too.
There's not a single player on these events that's made it out green. You do this for the hobby's sake, for the e-peen, not to make money. For the experience, to hang out with people, etc.
The only people who make money out of this are the ones who've been able to turn it into a long-term career, be it a Poketuber, like Wolfe, or actually getting hired within TPC like the NB people or other oldfags like Cybertron.

The Pokemon TCG is pretty cheap compared to something like YuGiOh and I assume Magic because they don't fuck around with putting staples as super rare cards. It helps that collectors only want the art rares so they sell the regular ex's for dirt cheap. A Gardevoir deck just won Worlds and to build it would cost about the same as a Switch game, and then you have a lot of staples that can be used for future decks too.

In Pokemon you lose more than you win, by a lot. In a tournament with 500 players only two make it to the finals. Statistically most people will win zero events and top cut zero events. Someone who consistently top cuts events, much less someone with a win, much much less someone with multiple wins could easily be called the best.
Here's a different question, if Wolf isn't the best, then who is? If his accomplishments don't make him the best I don't see how many else can even come close.

2. HAT
