In the original series he fought a lot of paranormal entities such as ghosts and magic users, as well as aliens and high-tech users, as well as Frankenstein type experiments and another kid who has powers to absorb energy and eventually turns into a mutant after absorbing from the watch. In later series, the paranormal elements were retconned to also be of alien origin.
The watch has millions of aliens encoded in it but can only display 10 at a time once it is first activated. Ben gradually gains more control of its mechanics and unlocks more and more aliens.
They travel to other planets in the sequel series and the third series starts doing parallel timeline shit too. OS is mostly self contained on Earth with monster of the week type plot.
I think it's about 3 series, probably less than 300 episodes total. There is one canon movie I think.
OS has monster of the week type pacing with less of an overarching plot, later series all have a big plot with developments every episode but lose a bit of the charm and tone of the OS.
