My Kanto

What a blessing to play a version of the pokemon universe without any of the franchise baggage. A version where I don't have to deal with hundreds of things I dislike because quite simply they just don't exist.

Do you think Bill's routes were originally intended to only be accessible "postgame" as a prelude to Cerulean Cave/Mewtwo? It's weird that they are numbered last(victory road is route 23 while those are 24 and 25)

I always though that, when I was little, there were both a main game/story/map and an other half in that was up to you to find a way to explore in video games. Especially pokemon and all the rumors about the games, like Bill's Garden. Gen2 did not help to settle this preconceived idea with it's two whole regions.

Perhaps I'm overstating it, but when you stop taking them for granted the Stadium games start to sound like an absurd thing for grown adults who themselves were NOT obsessed with Pokemon to greenlight. The Pokemon storage and mini-games make sense, but the literal hundreds of battles as the primary draw? The decision makers at the time could very well have said the same thing Game Freak has been saying for the past decade (*gulp*) about PvP and official tournaments being the real endgame. But battle gauntlets we did get, and RBY have not one but TWO N64 afterlives, complete with Missingno in RB to cover your item needs across playthroughs forevermore. What a thing.

There needs to be a hack that actually expands on Kanto while keeping the Gen 1 feel. Everything always tries to make it more like nugens.
