Honestly I think it has to do with a weird sense of moralism, like yes lolicon is indeed strange, but it is actually legal in various parts of the West, both in right-leaning parts like Spain or left-leaning strongholds like California. Personally, I think it's just pure cope about the state of American animation at this point, a lot of the cartoonfags are basically calling for Japan to be militarily occupied (not realizing it is again legal in California, China is also doing it with Hoyoverse characters like Ju Fufu or Nahida, and that there's even popular Western artists like WholesomeOrenji) over lolicon, while ignoring actual predators like Carroza. Hell, they're now even blaming the beanmouth/Tumblr artsyle on the executives despite defending it for years.
