Day 82
I spent time preparing for my final challenge in Kalos, training hard and even catching an Ursaring along the way to add some raw power to my reserves. Once I felt ready, I stepped into the Snowbelle City Gym to face the final Gym Leader, Wulffric. The battle went quickly—Talonflame’s Flame Charge incinerated Abomasnow in one blow, Toxicroak dropped Cryogonal instantly with Revenge, and Chesnaught smashed through Avalugg with a few heavy Hammer Arms. With that, I had earned my eighth and final badge.
From there, I set my sights on the Pokémon League. Passing through Victory Road, I caught a Hydreigon and pushed through countless tough battles against trainers determined to test me. The path was grueling, but at last I stood before the gates of the League itself. The Elite Four and Champion awaited, the final test to decide if I could truly rise as the Champion of Kalos.

I swear you won't believe this, but I need to tell you anyway: the very next attempt, the same exact trainer (youngster with lv. 7 Patrat) 1-shotted my lv. 4 Purrloin with a critical hit on the very first turn (I just wanted to use Growl and then I would have switched out). I know it sounds like I'm bullshitting you but god I wish I had a way to record this shit to prove it.
I honestly don't know what to do with gen 5.

First you figure out which witch cursed you, then you get it undone. The earlygame is rough in gen 5, but not to this extent.
I beat Lorena and made it to Pinwheel Forest. my only casualty is Patrat because Cilan demands a blood sacrifice.
I don't bother with Drilbur anymore because low-level Drilbur kinda sucks. I got lucky with a Rogenrola encounter for once.
>>58148588
I took out my cellphone and started recording my 3DS for that youngster battle. lo and behold, no crits. the game doesn't want me to catch its bullshit on camera but recording every time I might get 1-shot by a crit would be annoying.

The Kalos Elite 4 isn't too bad in my opinion, most of them fall to type advantage easily. In my experience Sievold was the worst of them due to, what else, Gyarados. Diantha was easy for me, but i had a screen setter.

Day 83
With my team of Chesnaught, Blastoise, Talonflame, Toxicroak, Marowak, and Malamar fully prepared, I stepped into the Kalos Pokémon League and began the ultimate challenge. The first battle was against Malva—while she was stunning, the match itself was simple and I beat her with ease. Next came Wikstrom, who proved to be a little tougher, but I pushed through. Drasna followed, and I relied heavily on my Mega Blastoise’s Ice Beam to carve through her dragons. Finally, I faced Siebold, who was a worthy opponent, but in the end, all four members of the Elite Four were defeated.
Then came the final trial—the Champion of Kalos herself, Diantha. She opened with Hawlucha, which Malamar took out instantly with Psycho Cut. Marowak followed by crushing Tyrantrum with repeated Bonemerangs. Against Aurorus, I had Toxicroak set up Toxic before striking with Venoshock. When Aurorus healed, Toxicroak switched to Revenge, finishing it off. Mega Blastoise then returned to dominate Goodra with Ice Beam, while Talonflame incinerated Gourgeist with Flamethrower.
At last, Diantha sent out her ace—Gardevoir. She Mega Evolved, and I sent out my own starter, Chesnaught. Using Spiky Shield, I blocked her first move, but when she unleashed a powerful Moonblast, Chesnaught fell, my loyal starter lost in the fight. Saddened, I tried Talonflame with Metal Wing, but a missed strike and Gardevoir’s Electric coverage ended it. Finally, Mega Blastoise came to avenge his fallen allies. With one crushing Surf, Gardevoir was defeated.
With that final blow, I stood victorious. I was crowned Champion of the Kalos region, my journey complete, though not without sacrifice.
Connor.

I beat Burgh but Pidove died. I'm not devastated or anything it was a silly death that could have been avoided. I had a bunch of X-item buffs, Growl, and even Eviolite set up so I thought I could tank Dweeble's Smack Down with strategic use of Roost (I didn't want to switch out and lose all of my buffs). as per usual, the AI kept getting crits that fight (Pidove had survived 2 near-lethal crits in the red) before the third one killed it at 85% health.
Burgh is a really weird fight. You can't sweep with Roggenrola because of his Leavanny and you can't sweep with a buffed Pidove because of Dweeble. I guess a Pignite would be the best mon for the job.

Day 84
After being crowned Champion of Kalos, I set off once again, this time to the tropical region of Alola. Leaving behind my old Pokémon, I arrived eager for a fresh start. Professor Kukui welcomed me personally and gifted me my new partner, a fiery little Litten. Unlike the regions I’d conquered before, Alola had no gyms. Instead, I would need to take on island trials, battle Totem Pokémon, and face the mighty Kahunas.
My journey began with excitement as I caught a Grubbin, hoping it would grow into a reliable ally. Unfortunately, its time with me was short-lived. During a challenge battle offered by Trial Captain Ilima, his Yungoose struck hard, and Grubbin was lost. Though saddened, I pushed forward, and soon after, I caught an Alolan Meowth to join Litten on my growing team, determined to overcome whatever trials Alola had in store for me.

Hot take but the main thing that makes USUM a fucked up run is the encounter aystem itself. Unlike the other games where new locations are mostly a dripfeed, USUM dumps you out on an island, you get all your first captures in like 30 minutes and still have 3 hours to go before island 2. And every island is like this.

The team I'll bring into the Elite 4 will be Blaziken, a Sharpedo, a Wailord, a Flygon, an Armaldo and a Hariyama which I got in Victory Road. and I'll be giving TM Earthquake to Flygon, TM Ice Beam to Wailord, and TM Brick Break to either Hariyama or Blaziken (probably the latter as Hariyama already has vital throw).
There aren't any holdable items in Gen 3 that increase accuracy so I can make Armaldo's Fury Cutter (almost) guaranteed to hit, right? I wanna try sweeping Sidney's team with Fury Cutter spam cause I think that'd be funny.

>encounter wild Lv. 20 Sigilyph
>select Work Up (Lv. 22 Herdier)
>Sigilyph attacks first with Psybeam
>it's a critical hit that leaves Herdier with 1 HP
>Herdier is confused
>Herdier hurts itself in confusion
about time. I was wondering when I'd get fucked over by a crit. I wish I was good at math so I could calculate the odds of that happening. I know critical hits are a 6.25%, Psybeam has a 10% chance of confusing the target, and getting hit by confusion was a 50% chance. I'm probably doing it wrong, but I think it's 0.03125% odds.

Day 85
I entered Verdant Cavern to face my very first island trial under Captain Ilima. After clearing the challenge, I confronted the Totem Pokémon, Gumshoos, who immediately summoned a Yungoose for backup. I sent out Meowth, who fought bravely with Bite, but the numbers game proved too much—Meowth was struck down. Still, its efforts weren’t in vain, leaving Gumshoos weakened enough for Litten to finish the job with Fire Fang. Litten then learned Double Kick, which it used to take out the Yungoose and secure victory in my first trial.
With the trial behind me, I continued to explore Melemele Island. I caught a Hawlucha to bolster my team, wandered into Melemele Meadow and caught a Cutiefly, and soon after, Litten evolved into a fiery Torracat. While exploring Seaward Cave, I also caught a Smoochum. Feeling stronger, I challenged the island Kahuna, Hala. Hawlucha opened by striking down his Machop with Wing Attack. Cutiefly followed up with Fairy Wind, toppling Makuhita, and finally, Torracat sealed the win by using Fire Fang to defeat Crabrawler.
With the Grand Trial complete, it was time to leave Melemele Island behind. Surfing across the waves on the back of a Mantine, I reached Akala Island, landing in Heahea City and ready for the adventures awaiting me there.

Good News: I defeated Elesa with no casualties. Yanmask w/Eviolite solo'd her. I also used X-items to increase its bulk.
Bad News: Sandile was killed by a couple of wild Whirlipedes. I thought Archen could 1-shot one with Pluck but I was wrong. That's why I didn't choose to attack the same target with both active mons. Sandile's Intimidate didn't save it either. Coincidentally, BOTH Whirlipedes used Bug Bite on the same exact turn, on the same exact pokemon. I'm no mathematician but I think those are 0.03% odds if wild Pokémon AI is completely random. It's unfortunate but I'm not gonna stress it; the run is far from over.
Did you guys know that Archen learns Acrobatics by level up? A mere 3 levels from its base level too. Talk about dev favoritism.

apologies if this doesn’t count as a “challenge run” but i’m currently running what i’ll call a “merch run” of white 2
basically, for a while now i’ve wanted to do some sort of run where i don’t fully evolve everything, like how ash would constantly include NFEs in his team.
my original idea was just a nuzlocke where i used an RNG to decide how far i could evolve each encounter, but i just never bothered. then i realized so many of my favorite pokemon were available in white 2, and when i started brainstorming my team, i wanted to do it with them at my favorite stages. when i realized all i needed to do was not evolve my sandile and everything was some form of merch the run was born
as for how i’m doing, i’m doing fine. i just got up to the team plasma ship on route 21 so i’m closing in on the end game. my NFEs haven’t been too big of an issue yet. i’ve been keeping the first stages essentially on par with opponents, my middle stage a few levels below than, and fully evolved mons even lower, but everyone’s pulled some weight. aron was genuinely pretty crucial against drayden, solid physical bulk + the dragon resistance let her put in work with a rocky helmet punishing them. i think i’ll probably need to grind my team overleveled for the elite 4, but my type matchup isn’t horrible at least. aron resists 3/4, sandile beats 2, and reuniclus beats the fighting type. i’ve got pretty limited options for grimsly though, i might have to rely on a predamaged reversal arcanine or just outlasting with aron (but i think he’s got krook? i’m relying on memory instead of using guides)

At least in gen 4, npc trainer ai will prioritize super effective moves, except Cynthia i think, so you can estimate what move they'll use next based on who they switch in. I don't know if this applies in double battles, normally they target the opposite side mon, they might have changed it in gen 5.

they were both wild pokemon. also, the Emolgas in Elesa's gym used Pursuit against my Archen (rock/flying) instead of electric-type moves. I can only assume the AI is input-reading my switches because there's no other reason to prioritize pursuit when a single electric move would probably kill me.

There are no encounters in the interior Cold Storage, so you're good to proceed.
I'm stating the obvious, but the Whirlipedes had a super effective move to use, so at least in gen 5 they'll double team a target.
Did the Emolga's crit? Sometimes the ai will use a seemingly worse move only for it to work out for them (like using a not very effective poison move on you and you get poisoned), it might have also determined that pursuit with bonus damage would do more than Volt Switch and was fishing for it. Or they were just dumb.

Day 86
I continued my adventure across Akala Island, catching a sturdy Mudbray along the way, followed by a Pikipek that quickly evolved into Trumbeak as I reached Brooklet Hill. There, I faced the second island trial under the guidance of Lana, who was as charming as she was determined to test me.
The trial began against the Totem Pokémon Araquanid, who summoned a Masquerain for support. I opened with Trumbeak, who bravely used Pluck to steal Araquanid’s berry, but the relentless barrage of Bubbles proved too much—Trumbeak was slain in battle. Hawlucha stepped in to turn the tide, swiftly defeating Araquanid with Aerial Ace before finishing off Masquerain as well, securing my victory in the trial.
Afterward, I caught a Poliwag before leaving Brooklet Hill behind. Taking a brief detour back to Melemele Island by boat, I remembered I had never caught a Pokémon in Verdant Cavern, so I added a Yungoose to my collection. With Surf now available, I explored more of Melemele’s waters, catching a Wishiwashi at Kalae Bay, a Carbink within Ten Carat Hill, and a Clamperl at Melemele Sea. I didn't think wild pokemon to have "smart AI" (use super effective moves whenever possible). I'm pretty sure that was trainer AI only unless gen 5 buffed wild pokemon AI for some reason.
No, the pursuits did not get crits.

I got super lucky getting ABRA and it staying in the ball north of Cerulean. He died to a crit after gen 1 missing a confusion training against a diglett for gym 2 while he was level 21.

I barely managed to beat Clay and got the broken dildo badge, but Leavanny got killed by a gym trainer (Krokorok's critical hit Crunch). My original plan for Clay was to use Yanmask to burn the Krokorok but of course it uses Turn 1 Swagger and is way faster than me (I went for turn 1 Disable expecting Crunch). I had to use Audino to tank the Crunches and ended up sweeping his entire team while under the effects of Torment.

Day 87
While exploring more of Akala Island, I expanded my team with several new catches. First, I found an Oricorio, its graceful dancing form captivating, then caught a Larvitar deep inside Diglett’s Tunnel. My journey continued as I added a Pyukumuku from the shorelines and a fiery Salandit from Wela Volcano Park. With these new allies, I set my sights on the next challenge—the third island trial, hosted by Kiawe.
The battle was fierce, pitting me against the Totem Pokémon Alolan Marowak, who summoned a Salazzle to aid it. I opened with Wishiwashi, who entered its mighty School Form and set up Aqua Ring to sustain itself. It struck Marowak with Water Gun, but disaster struck—Salazzle poisoned it, and after Wishiwashi fell out of School Form, a Venoshock sealed its fate. My poor Wishiwashi was lost. Determined, Mudbray charged in, using Bulldoze to crush Salazzle before turning its focus on Marowak. Despite taking heavy damage from Flame Wheel, Mudbray held strong and delivered a decisive High Horsepower to finish the trial.
With the victory earned, my Cutiefly evolved into Ribombee, adding both strength and elegance to my team. I pressed onward, continuing my exploration of Akala Island, catching a Stuffel along the way. Finally, I arrived just outside Lush Jungle, where the next island trial awaited.

TLDR: The game throws a LOT of bullshit at you after Mistralton City.
I caught a Jolly Sap Sipper Deerling, but the game threw a random triple battle at me that I couldn't have known about beforehand and 1-shotted it instantly.
After that, a trainer's Simipour that spammed Scald over and over again, burning 3 of my Pokémon. I was on the verge of getting another casualty but played around it.
Then I had to deal with a trainer's Wonder Skin Sigilyph which dodged Thunder Wave 2 times. I managed to pull through because Audino is unexpectedly good.
Lastly, a trainer's Gurdurr that used Bulk Up. I switched to Yanmask for the type-advantage and used Disable to lock it out of more Bulk Ups. It surprised me by taking a full-health Eviolite Yanmask to yellow health with a single Rock Slide. I predicted Rock Slide and switched to Excadrill because the Gurdurr was at 30% health. However, it survived a Lv. 33 STAB Bulldoze in red and 1-shotted Excadrill with a non-critical hit Wake-Up Slap.
It was a good run, but I think this is it.

So, Lurantis' gimmick is spamming Solar Blade, and its SOS allies both come with Sunny Day. It also comes with Low Kick, so be warned. My advice would be to try and just one shot it, because the first ally summon comes with Ancient Power, granting complete coverage against your team. If, however, you take out approximately 2/3rds of its health (quoting Bulbapedia), it will summon its second ally instead, a Comfey, who is not nearly as much of a threat in terms of offense. It can heal the totem, but you might just be able to outspeed and knock it out, then you never have to deal with Kecleon. You might actually outspeed the totem, even with the +2 boost to speed it gets.
To recap, go for the KO to avoid Kecleon, try not to knock out Comfey until Lurantis is dealt with.

25% chance to select the move randomly & 6.25% crit chance should be 1.5% odds. I know for 100% certainty that wild Pokémon do not have "smart AI". A lot of them try to use normal attacks on ghost-type Pokémon over and over again.

Day 88
I entered Lush Jungle to face the fourth island trial, hosted by the adorable Mallow. Her Totem Pokémon, Lurantis, proved far deadlier than expected, leading to a brutal battle that cost me three team members.
I opened with Smoochum, hoping Powder Snow would pressure Lurantis, but it was instantly destroyed by Solar Blade. Next came Ribombee, who fought bravely with Pollen Puff, but things spiraled when Lurantis summoned Kecleon. With Sunny Day boosting its healing through Synthesis, Ribombee was overwhelmed by constant attacks and fell. Hawlucha then entered and quickly took down Kecleon with Flying Press, only for Lurantis to summon Comfey. After multiple Aerial Aces, Hawlucha managed to defeat Comfey, but not without suffering heavy damage. When it finally turned its attacks on Lurantis, the healing continued, and a Solar Blade eventually struck Hawlucha down.
With three Pokémon gone, I sent out Torracat to finish things. Using Inferno Overdrive, its Z-Move, I landed a crushing blow. Lurantis fought hard, striking Torracat for massive damage, but Torracat endured and finally delivered the finishing hit, securing victory in the trial. Afterward, I caught a Steenee before leaving the jungle, though the heavy losses weighed on me.

Exploring more of Akala Island, I caught a Luvdisc and later saw Mudbray evolve into a powerful Mudsdale. At Memorial Hill, I added a Phantump to my team, and after clashing with Team Skull’s Plumeria—another of their pointless distractions—I caught a Natu on Akala Outskirts. With my team prepared, I faced the island’s Kahuna, Olivia, a fierce and commanding presence. Pyukumuku opened against her Anorith, using Counter to reflect its strikes until Anorith was defeated. Mudsdale then came out, stomping her Lileep with High Horsepower. Finally, Steenee unleashed Bloom Doom on Lycanroc for heavy damage, but Lycanroc bit back viciously. Not wanting to risk her, I switched back to Mudsdale, who finished Lycanroc with another High Horsepower, sealing the victory.

My Cofagrigus and Vanillish both were killed by critical hits in green (I think Vanilla was at full health). Vanillish I had just caught and only raised it by a level or two, but that Cofagrigus is from Relic Castle; trained from a Yanmask.
Catching Vanillite at Cold Storage is honestly a waste because it needs to level up like 9 times before it can start contributing (it learns Ice Beam and evolves at Lv. 35) when you can just catch Vanillish in the wild at Lv. 35. It has to be dark grass but that just increases your odds of running into one.
Yanmask is surprisingly good, despite being slow with terrible offenses. Will-o-Wisp is always useful, but the real hit sleeper is Disable. With 100% accuracy, you can just turn off one of your opponent's moves for a few turns. Considering the ghost-typing, they'll probably have at least 2 moves they can't use plus if they touch you: they lose their ability. Of course, you need to give it Eviolite to use it to its full potential.

For thousands of years, I've laid dormant! Through pain, I have endured malaise and despair, but I have been discharged from the hospital yesterday, and it's time for the long arduous and painful road of--
Anyway, let's clap Skyla's cheeks.
A Kigu of Rosa doesn't really appreciate her hair flailing about and slapping her face inside the OSHA-questionable wind tunnel of-a Doom! Very scary and all that--especially when one's caught unaware and slammed back first into a safety wall!
Skyla's Swoobat led the assault, and Presunto was a chap about it, setting up Light Screen while getting 'Assured' of its failures. Swap to Moko, who would give it the Aqua Tail of Enemy Fail! (We're still workshopping the name...)
Whip out her ace, Swanna, and Presunto's topped up to take some pain. He couldn't even get a second Light Screen up, before the Air Slash... it removed the gooey outsides and sliced up the psychic jelly insides... Raid Shadow Legends wasn't going to take that shit; he Minimized thrice, spat out Sludge Wave after Sludge Wave, and the dickhead swan was dickhead down.
Skarmory comes out, Raid thinks the metal bird should talk to the 'Manager'. Tag in Chris P., and the armor bird is roasted! Jet Badge obtained!
Now for an impromptu trip to the base where the Reverse Mountain is reverse met--make an impromptu detour to the Strange House... Is this the house that the Pokemon world's equivalent of "Bad Ben" takes place in?? It would explain the dank stank and the disheveled--Banette? Tiffany tried to weaken it with a Shadow Claw to catch it--it 'thanked' her by dropping a Shadow Ball on her instead, her soul getting roasted inside out.
Chris P. ... decided there'd be no Pokemon to catch in this house--AND MAX REPELS on until we solve the 'mystery' of the dead girl.
Mystery solved--journey's halted for the moment--Nigou and Gator Bob have been drug through the wringer to catch up.

Day 89
I made my way to the Hano Hotel and decided to take on the many trainers there and down at the beach. While battling at Hano Beach, I caught a Staryu, and soon after, Stuffel evolved into a massive Bewear. Sadly, my new Staryu didn’t last long—it was taken out by a trainer’s Mankey. Back at the hotel, though, I had better luck. Steenee evolved into a powerful Tsareena after learning Stomp, and she wasted no time showing her strength—delivering me a sharp Trop Kick to the balls as if to prove a point. Torracat also reached its final form, evolving into a mighty Incineroar, while Larvitar grew into a Pupitar, bringing me one step closer to a Tyranitar.
Not long after, I received an invitation to visit the Aether Foundation’s HQ. There I met Lusamine, the boss of the foundation. The place was bright, modern, and seemed dedicated to caring for Pokémon in need, though my stay was short. Soon after, I boarded a boat and set sail for Ula Ula Island, landing in Malie City. While exploring Malie Garden, I added an Araquanid to my team, ready to see what challenges awaited on this new island.

I beat the Pokémon White Nuzlocke. Here's how it went down:
>Shauntal
I used 5 Rare Candies on a Lv. 47 Pawniard so Bisharp could sweep thanks to X-items.
>Caitlin
That fucking Reuniclus packing Thunder scared the shit out of me. I had to use a Dark Gem over Blackglasses just to give Bisharp the best odds to 1-shot it. Gothitelle was a 2-shot without buffing Bisharp though.
>Marshal
I wanted to sweep with Archeops but Sawk has Sturdy and would use Stone Edge (I don't think the Elite 4 AI ever missed a single Stone Edge this run). I had to sweep with Swanna using X-items instead.
>Grimsley
Swanna swept again with the help of X-items. Feather Dance and Substitute is a busted combination.
>N
Zekrom jobbed to Vanilluxe so Chandellure came in to avenge it. Then Sturdy Torterra hit the field, so I was forced to switch to Swanna and provide Feather Dance support so Bisharp could eventually sweep with X-items.
>Ghetsis
The game revives your Pokémon so I did the honorable thing and spammed Paralysis Heal on Zekrom because it would have no effect, and thus waste turns until Zekrom died again. Bisharp swept with X-items thanks to Substitute.
Here's my Hall of Fame and my final thoughts of them:
>Lv. 43 Cobalion
Not that good, actually. Not terrible but it doesn't have the offensive presence to carry the team to victory.
>Lv. 44 Chandelure
Hits hard but not much else. It pulled its weight throughout the run but it's NOT an MVP.
>Lv. 44 Archeops
Good on paper but very risky even with itemless Acrobatics. You really have to pick your battles because attacking is the same as being confident you can 1-shot the opponent.
>Lv. 46 Swanna
I can't believe fucking Ducklett is the best Pokémon in the game.
>Lv. 56 Bisharp
Needs a LOT of EXP and Rare Candy investment but it pays off at the Pokémon League.
>Lv. 50 Zekrom
I couldn't witness its true power because it got 1-shotted by Vanilluxe's critical hit Blizzard. I overestimated Zekrom's speed. What a shame.
MVPs: Bisharp + Swanna!!!!

Day 90
While exploring Ula Ula Island, I caught both a Pancham and a Crabrawler to expand my team. My journey then took me up to Mount Hokulani, where I caught a rare Beldum before entering the Hokulani Observatory to face the fifth island trial, led by Sophocles.
The trial’s Totem Pokémon was Togedemaru, who called upon a Dedenne for backup. I opened with Incineroar, using Fire Fang and even unleashing Inferno Overdrive, but the damage wasn’t enough to bring Togedemaru down. I switched strategies and sent in Mudsdale, who used High Horsepower repeatedly to finally take out the totem. With Togedemaru gone, Mudsdale then crushed Dedenne with Heavy Slam, securing another trial victory.
After returning to Malie City, I encountered the boss of Team Skull, Guzma, for the very first time. He proved to be a fierce opponent, but I managed to defeat him and force him to retreat, though his strength was clear. I continued exploring the island, training my team as I went. During this time, my Beldum evolved into a Metang, and I also caught a Togedemaru while exploring Blush Mountain, adding even more power to my roster.

Metagross? It depends on the game, i might give the edge to Metagross because of its typing, but it's easier to use since you don't have to plan around Sandstorm like you do with Tyranitar. They're both pseudo's at the end of the day

Day 91
While exploring Ula Ula Island, I caught a colorful Bruxish before stepping into the eerie Thrifty Megamart to face the sixth island trial, hosted by Acerola. The trial’s Totem Pokémon was Mimikyu, and the battle quickly turned intense.
I opened with Metang, using its Z-Move, Corkscrew Crash, but all it managed to do was break Mimikyu’s disguise. Mimikyu struck back with a harsh Shadow Claw, forcing me to switch to Incineroar just as Mimikyu summoned a Banette. Incineroar made quick work of Banette with Darkest Lariat, but Mimikyu still loomed. Knowing it carried Play Rough, I swapped in Mudsdale, who began pounding away with Heavy Slam. When Mimikyu summoned Jellicent, I switched to Tsareena to handle the watery threat with Trop Kick, before rotating back to Mudsdale to finish off Mimikyu with another Heavy Slam. With that, the trial was complete.
Afterward, I caught a Mimikyu of my own before leaving the haunted shop. But my path soon crossed with Team Skull again. I defeated Plumeria in battle, but she revealed they had stolen a young boy’s Yungoose and taken it to their base in Po Town. Refusing to let it go, I set off toward their hideout. Along the way, I caught a Floette near Ula Ula Town, preparing myself for the showdown ahead.

Yeah, I'm the one who beat White 1 (I think there is another anon who is nuzlocking White 2 atm). I can't blame you for thinking it was 2 completely different people considering how night-and-day those run attempts have been. I was struggling getting past the early game for so long and then out of nowhere I had a breakthrough where I reached the 4th gym for the first time and THAT was the winning run. Literally the only difference in that winning run was that my Wellspring Cave was Roggenrola. Roggenrola is much more useful at that part in the game than Drilbur or Swoob*t, since it's the only thing that can resist Lenora's STAB Retaliates and Take Downs.
For the record, the game I'm currently testing the waters is Black 2 (I'm doing run attempts for the sake of learning; not with intention to win.)

Day 92
I set off toward Po Town, catching a Skarmory along the way to bolster my team. Once inside the lawless stronghold, I fought my way through waves of Team Skull grunts who filled the streets with chaos. Eventually, I confronted their boss, Guzma, once again. Though he fought fiercely, I defeated him, leaving him enraged but forcing him to release the kidnapped Yungoose. I returned the Pokémon safely home, but my relief didn’t last long—troubling news awaited me.
Lillie, a girl I’d met earlier in my journey through Alola, had been kidnapped. Gladion, a member of Team Skull who opposed their cruelty, revealed that she had likely been taken to the Aether Paradise, headquarters of the Aether Foundation. Determined to save her, he offered his help, and I agreed to team up. Before leaving Ula Ula, however, I faced the island’s Kahuna, Nanu.
The battle was tense. Incineroar overpowered Sableye with Darkest Lariat, and Araquanid doused Krokorok with Bubble Beam. Against his Alolan Persian, I relied on Crabrawler, who unleashed its Z-Move, All-Out Pummeling, but took heavy damage in return. To finish it off, I sent in Mudsdale, who landed decisive Double Kicks to secure victory. With Nanu defeated, I was free to press on.
Together with Gladion, I sailed to Aether Paradise. The moment we landed, it became clear we weren’t welcome. We were forced to battle our way through Aether employees determined to keep us out, and I even took down their smug scientist, Faba. Still, questions lingered—what was truly happening inside Aether Paradise, and what role did Lusamine and her foundation play in all of this?

First, if you can leave Aether Paradise, you should be able to access Mount Lanakila, the base at least, and evolve it. Guzma will probably be the more difficult battle, he has coverage for his weaknesses and your team will mostly take neutral damage instead of resisting. Half of Lusamine's team can be easily dealt with thanks to type advantage tanking physically with Lopunny, the other two are Milotic and Bewear, that has Drain Punch by the way.

Day 93
I left Aether Paradise with a heavy heart, knowing something darker was at play. Before diving back into the storm, I took time to prepare. At the snowy heights of Mount Lanakila, my Crabrawler finally reached its full potential, evolving into the mighty Crabominable. With renewed strength, I returned to Aether Paradise, ready to face whatever awaited me.
Once back inside, I battled Faba again and defeated him with ease, but the truth quickly became clear—the Aether Foundation had actually allied themselves with Team Skull. Pushing through their combined forces, I confronted Guzma for the third time. The fight was brutal. Tsareena struck his Golisopod with a devastating Trop Kick, forcing it to retreat with Emergency Exit. Guzma sent out Masquerain next, but Incineroar roasted it with a single Flamethrower. Metang, now evolved into Metagross, unleashed its Z-Move, Corkscrew Crash, to tear through Pinsir before finishing it with Meteor Mash. When Golisopod returned for round two, Tsareena overwhelmed it with a Leaf Storm and, with queenly dominance, stomped it into defeat. Incineroar then finished the job, taking out Vikavolt with Flamethrower and Fire Fang, inflicting a nasty burn as well. Guzma was beaten once more.

After his defeat, I finally found Lillie. The shocking truth was revealed—Lusamine herself had ordered Team Skull to kidnap her, all because Lillie possessed the mysterious Pokémon Cosmog. Lusamine’s twisted ambition was to use Cosmog’s power to open an Ultra Wormhole and reach another world. I challenged her in battle; though she was both terrifyingly strong and undeniably alluring, I managed to defeat her. Yet it wasn’t enough—Lusamine pressed forward anyway, opening the wormhole and vanishing into it with Guzma by her side.
At least Lillie was safe. With little time to waste, I left the Aether Paradise behind and continued my journey to Poni Island. There, I caught a Furfrou at Poni Wilds, a Granbull along the Ancient Poni Path, and a Clawitzer at the Poni Breaker Coast, preparing for the trials and dangers yet to come.

And so we relax at Undella Town for a spell. Head south to Route 14, and we pick up our Surf slave, Wave the Golduck--because Mokomania ain't tainting her movelist with Surf!
Up on Route 13, a Pelipper wouldn't get in the ball as instructed, and so would be batted off into the ocean.

TLDR early game B2W2 is much easier than BW
In B2W2, they give you 3 X-items before the first gym; in BW, there are no X-items at that point in the game. There also are multiple Pokémon that can help with the 2nd gym (Magnemite is best, but Koffing is good enough); in BW, you either catch Roggenrola or you don't resist Lenora's STAB Retaliates.

It's easier to get Pokémon with Growl in B2W2. in BW: Purrloin is your only option, and you only get 1 chance before the first gym, and it's a 20% encounter rate. Growl is literally the only counterplay to Work Up spam at that point in the game.
in B2W2, you have a chance of getting Mareep and by extension access to Static and Thunder Wave. plus X-items like I said before. none of which is available in BW before the first gym.

I wiped at Elesa. I let too many Pokémon die. Sandile was the biggest one, who was killed because I overestimated its speed (Drillbur was faster and 1-shot it with Dig despite Intimidate). I'm still baffled by how strong and fast Magby is. Don't know if it's just me but Pokémon Rangers feel abnormally strong.
I learned a lot this attempt. B2W2 gives the player a shit ton of money, especially with the Castelliacone exploit (even if you can only buy a dozen once per day). It's still missing easy access to the Eviolite compared to BW. No early Eviolite really hurts Pokémon who need the extra bulk.

Littlemon team #30 to beat Alpha Sapphire E4 + Champion.
Deathless & reliable strat. Level cap, no bag items, usual restrictions.
Solid team, surprising heroes, good pairings!
Archen is amazing, it has crazy high Attack and good stats all around. And a great move pool.
Yamask has been sitting in the box for a long time, but now it was its time to shine. Paras and Wynaut are amazing supports. Bellsprout has a gimmick.
Chimchar was the most surprising one. I usually use a Firemon just to get rid of Abomasnow but this monkey does everything. Sweeper, backup, support.
Strategy:
Yamask spreads mummy all around so Archen gets rid of Defeatist ability, that's one of the key points. There's two strats with Archen: Hone Claws or Ancient Power & Leppa Berry (and Acrobatics).
Sidney:
>wynaut puts scrafty to -6 attack.
>archen sets up and sweeps
Phoebe:
>paras baits banette's toxic
>bellsprout enters and uses encore
>free turns to set up with sword's dance
>bellsprout sweeps with bullet seed & knock off (yamask kills mega sableye with curse, but that's a whole new story)
I'm kinda proud of this strat lol
Glacia:
>chimchar kills abomasnow
>paras kills walrein
>wynaut kills froslass
>chimchar takes over and sweeps
Drake:
>with the help of support mons, archen can set up against altaria & dragalgae and sweep the whole team
Steven:
>skarmory is put to -6 attack and paralyzed
>archen sets up and sweeps
The first team for a while when everyone gets at least one KO.
All time top KO list:
30 / 30: Tentacool, Hippopotas, Rufflet
29: Teddiursa
28: Pawniard
27: Tyrunt, Skorupi
24: Gligar
23: Stunky
20: Mienfoo

Day 94
I pressed forward into the Vast Poni Canyon, where I caught a fierce Lycanroc to bolster my team. At the canyon’s peak, I was met with the seventh island trial—strangely, this time there was no captain to host it. Instead, I faced the towering Totem Kommo-o.
I opened with Metagross, striking with Psychic, but Kommo-o summoned a Noivern as backup, turning the fight into a two-on-one struggle. Metagross endured blow after blow and nearly fell, but its relentless Psychic attacks finally brought Kommo-o down. With the dragon defeated, I sent in Incineroar to deal with Noivern. Powering up its Z-Move, Malicious Moonsault, Incineroar launched itself at Noivern and crushed it in one devastating hit, sealing the trial’s victory.
With that challenge behind me, I journeyed to the Altar of the Sunne alongside Lillie. There, Cosmog evolved into the majestic Solgaleo—but the moment was shattered when the wormhole opened. From it, Guzma and Lusamine tumbled out, and soon after came an Ultra Beast unlike any other: Necrozma. It fused with Solgaleo, twisting its power into something terrifying. Without hesitation, I battled and defeated it, forcing Necrozma to retreat into the wormhole.
The danger wasn’t over, though. Everyone urged me to pursue it and end the threat once and for all. Without hesitation, I dove through the wormhole, chasing Necrozma into its own world—where I fought it again and finally defeated it, ending the nightmare once and for all.

Welcome to the world of Nuzlockes! Hypno only starts dropping in viability in gen 4, but it's still workable. Gyarados is so good, I would say the struggle is deciding when to use it in an autismlocke.

After cleaning out the Village Bridge, off we go to route 11, snag a Zangoose who'd be more than happy to harass Dickhead, head into Opelucid, fuck off Iris, and grab a Pawniard at Route 9.

Day 95
I began the final island trial at Seafolk Village, led by Captain Mina. Her Totem Pokémon was Ribombee, which quickly summoned a Blissey for support. Expecting a tough challenge, I led with Metagross—but the battle ended almost immediately. One Corkscrew Crash obliterated Ribombee in a single blow, and a follow-up Meteor Mash dropped Blissey just as fast. By far, it was the easiest trial of my journey, over before it truly began.
Next came the last Grand Trial, facing Kahuna Hapu. Araquanid opened with Bubble Beam to wash away Golurk, while Crabominable landed an Ice Punch to shatter her Flygon. Tsareena then stepped in, unleashing her Z-Move Bloom Doom to overwhelm Mudsdale, before finishing off Gastrodon with a crushing Power Whip. With that, the Grand Trials were complete.
From there, I ascended Mount Lanakila, catching Necrozma along the way by sealing it into a Master Ball. With the last obstacles cleared, I stood before the Pokémon League of Alola. My final team—Incineroar, Tsareena, Araquanid, Metagross, Mudsdale, and Crabominable—was ready. Ahead lay the greatest challenge of the islands: the Elite Four and the Champion’s throne.

It's been fascinating to play this so far, and compare it to when I was a kid and never actually beat the elite 4 in my firered copy. Both way harder and easier thanks to having better understanding of the game mechanics than a dry game guide that just lists moves learned without any mention of "is this pokemon good to learn that, even?"

Day 96
I entered the Pokémon League of Alola, ready to prove myself as Champion. My first opponent was Molayne, and Mudsdale carried most of the fight with devastating Earthquakes. Next was Olivia, who proved a bit tougher than before, but Tsareena stepped in and cleanly defeated her ace, sealing the win. Against Acerola, Incineroar did most of the heavy lifting, but Araquanid landed the finishing blow on her ace, securing victory. Finally, I faced Kahili, whose Flying-types gave me the most trouble since I lacked strong counters—but with persistence and careful switches, I managed to come out on top.
With all four of the Elite Four defeated, only one battle remained: the Champion match against Hau. Mudsdale started strong, flattening Raichu with a few Earthquakes. Tsareena then stepped up, obliterating his Vaporeon with a single Power Whip. Metagross followed, outmuscling Crabominable with a mix of Hammer Arm, Psychic, and Meteor Mash. Hau’s Noivern gave me trouble, pelting my own Crabominable with Air Slashes, but in the end, Crabominable landed a crushing Ice Punch to secure the knockout. Araquanid then faced Tauros, using Liquidation repeatedly while Tauros wore itself down with Double-Edge recoil.
At last, Hau was down to his final Pokémon: Decidueye. It was the perfect moment to bring out my starter. Incineroar entered the field, and without hesitation, unleashed its Z-Move, Malicious Moonsault. The attack landed clean, defeating Decidueye in one dramatic blow. Hau fell, and with my strongest team yet—Incineroar, Tsareena, Araquanid, Metagross, Mudsdale, and Crabominable—I was crowned the Champion of Alola.

Had to take out Ultra Necrozma with the tried and true 'Toxic and it have everyone use protect' method.
The scariest thing in this game for a mono ground team is Crabominable. Fuck Ice Hammer.

White 2 Nuzlocke
Set Mode - No Items in Battle - Level Cap
Deja Vu the Lilligant contracted Pokerus a short time before I faced Elesa. I understand it's a very rare so that's neat. I've now since spread the infection to most all the pokemon I've caught.
It's funny, in my previous nuzlocke attempt — which was also my first — I encountered and caught my first ever shiny pokemon, an Audino. And now in my second ever nuzlocke I witness pokerus; that kind of back-to-back unlikelihood is pretty cool.
Anyhow, this is my current team
Bird the Pignite
Blues the Herdier
Deja Vu the Lilligant
Roach the Krokorok
Mac the Koffing
DOOM the yamask
Notably, Bingo the Darumaka is resting in the PC

Yeah RR is very hard but you can turn on minimal grinding mode so you don’t have to do ev or iv bullshit and there are a lot of great quality of life things that make it very fun to have runs on. You can also turn on random mons with random abilities and in that particular run I was in I had some really good ones so I’m pretty sad about losing. I think most people use calcs for it since it’s really hard without them. I was only playing on normal mode which is no joke but there is a hardcore mode where you are not allowed any setup moves and the teams you fight are a little more difficult. That doesn’t sound fun to me tho since I enjoy good positioning to be able to set up. The AI is really good for the enemy trainers. Next time I’ll probably use calcs. I could have saved ley ley had I used them. I have never made it past Sabrina on a nuzlocke of Radical red.

Day 97.
After being crowned Champion of Alola, I set my sights on a new adventure in a faraway land—the Galar region. Wanting to give my Alolan team the rest and recognition they deserved, I left them behind to bask in their hard-earned glory.
Upon arriving in Galar, I was greeted by none other than Leon, the reigning Champion himself. He entrusted me with a Sobble as my new partner, marking the beginning of my journey through this unfamiliar region. With Sobble by my side, I ventured out and quickly caught two more companions: a Rookidee, whose determination showed even in its tiny frame, and a cunning Nickit lurking in the grass. My Galarian adventure had officially begun.

Okay, everyone's at a good level; let's rock the dragon!
Sparking! Rock the Dragon Ball Z!
Fraxures and Druddigons were small change to Gator Bob and Nigou, and I chose the lesser of two evils in the Rotation Battle hag, giving Raid a chance to have some fun as well.
Gator Bob opened up on Drayden's Druddigon. He said 'Bulldoze', Drud said 'bet' with 'Revenge'; thank goodness that Intimidate softened that Revenge... Raid wanted a piece of that ass, dropped ALL the Minimize, and flooded him with waves of toxin!
And then the Flygon came out, got the lucky Dragon Tail, and it would be Chris, Moko, Gator Bob, Raid, and Moko again, shuffled by Dragon Tail, until Moko got that firm Aqua Tail to finish it off.
Then the Haxorus came out, and Sugg wanted a piece of that ass, coming in on Dragon Dance. And then another Dragon Dance--oh wait, Sugg can use Clear Smog! That Haxorus was a fucking idiot!
Legend Badge get! Everyone participated in that battle except for Nigou.
And then everything changed when the Cold Plasma attacked, turning Opelucid into a chilly chill town of kill--frostbite and Neo Plasma cucks. Bob and Moko handled the grunts, and Chris P. single-handedly melted the sage of ice.
Now, on our way back to Undella--no, the undersea tunnel--no, Humilau.
Next time, the sunny shores of Humilau...

4 badges into my random starter blaze black nuzlocke, i think this is the run. Started with Sturdy Crustle w/ Shell Smash. Got super lucky with 1% chance of Jirachi in the dreamyard.
Beedrill swept Cilian with Cut (60bp Grass move in this mod)
Cheren 2 took my zigzagoon with the staravia crit. I actually was underleveled for this fight but shell smash Crustle swept after the switch in.
Grinded for hours in Wellspring cave to get a fire stone early so I could get Arcanine for the Lenora double battle. Also this game lets you evolve Slowbro if you just level up at any level with a shelder in your party. So I hard Regenerator Slowbro and Arcanine cycle intimidate and growl over and over on lenora's opening 2 mon until they were -6 and then set up shell smash and went to town focusing one lane while Jirachi gave wish support.
Got Victini at Liberty island through the liberty pass, however the mod actually had the team plasma grunts at the same level as Burgh so I was flying by the set of my pants staying alive to get my 2nd mythical
Burgh's double battle was made moot by Crustle learning Rock Slide at level 28 (level cap is 30 for the fight) and Jirachi learning Psychic at 20 which I paired with a psychic gem specifically to delete his Guts flame orb Heracross from setting up.
Cheren 3 rotation battle was rough, Sturdy saved Crustle's life and twisted Spoon Jirachi was able to rotate kill most everything.
Arcanine, Quagsire, and Fire/Ground type Emboar completely stomped Elesa in, especially because its the first singles gym in the whole game.
Now leveling up the gang to get ready for Clay. Its my first run at Blaze Black but I feel like this is the run.

Day 98
Continuing my journey through Galar, I set my sights on Turffield. Along the way, Sobble evolved into Drizzile, giving me a sharper, more tactical fighter. I caught a Stunky before entering Galar Mine, where I added a sturdy Carkol to my team. Progressing further, Rookidee evolved into Corvisquire, and Nickit matured into a sly Thievul. Once I emerged from the mines, I caught a Skwovet, rounding out my growing roster.
Reaching Turffield, I challenged the first Gym Leader, Milo. His Grass-types put up a fight, but Stunky handled Gossifleur with Acid Spray, and when his Eldegoss Dynamaxed, I matched it with my Corvisquire. A Max Airstream tore through the oversized cotton ball, securing me the badge.
With victory in hand, I moved on toward Hulbury. Along the way, I caught an Applin and even received a Toxel as a gift from a breeder. My team was starting to feel both balanced and full of personality, ready for the battles ahead.

I know, I'm being unbelievably careful, 252 ev training on route 1 to not go over the level cap. But not everything is as good as it seems.
Nidoqueen is nasty rivalry, Beedrill is modest so even with 252 att it's gonna fall off hard now that I'm in the mid game, and Arcanine is starting to be starved for stronger moves as flare blitz are not until >52. Also until I get to the move reminder victini's move pool is super limited.
I can make victini physical tilted for fusion bolt and v-create(risky) while relying on zen headbutt but then I lose out on investment for searing shot and psychic. If I go special I can run searing shot with less risk and psychic solid but fusion bolt falls off. I've already fully invested in 252 HP for him so I have to make decision.
I still feel good both about my team, my skills, and my odds in the run so far. Only concern is my lack of dark types for the league as that's the best thing to bring for grimsly and Shauna. While jirachi can still come due to pre-kalos steel resisting dark, victini might be a liability there.

>”Doduo used Pursuit!”

So, is Pursuit typeless or something when it attacks a switching Pokemon in Gen 3? I know for sure it isn’t in later gens. Or is this just a bug specific to this ROMhack?
