I had an idea for a cyberpunk alternate universe setting where all the regions were part of one giant mega city, and each of the gyms was instead pretty legalized gangs that had 'company rights'. So each gang was legally a corporation in the eyes of the law and was allowed to allocate the resources within their territory (AKA, the people) how they saw fit. Story would start by following a bunch of kids from Pallet Street as they start their own gang to keep their neighborhood safe before escalating.

Even Clemont is absent, despite him being the one who made Lumiose Tower. And the Tower is one of the central plot-points of the story.

They should very well know that XY characters are among the most underdeveloped in the franchise, and instead of bringing some of them back, having them appear in side-quests, have them have main story relevance, etc... they just decide to create a shitton of literally whos and brand new characters instead.

In my setting she's a tad rusty from lack of serious threats to fight but nonetheless spent 8+ years as effectively the local Kamen Rider. She's definitely a capable fighter even without her Pokemon, and at least on paper can briefly reach higher peaks than any but the highest tier martial artists, though her suit has a limited battery capacity for high-stress operation. And strong-enough Pokemon are capable of damaging the suit with moves that will limit its effectiveness; she was still susceptible to being immobilized by Chien-Pao's Blizzard.

Give her a modernized suit that stacks 8 years of the Pokemon World's technological acceleration onto its existing abilities, and she'd probably be pretty incredible. One might even call it Excellence.

I don't really read aura/cultivation type fics so I don't know what they're capable of on the average. If I were to use capeshit as a universal benchmark, on a really good day she could probably take on the Sinister Six. But she's also a trainer first and a fighter second, she's only really going to throw hands if you're someone she finds reprehensible enough to want to hurt you more than beat you in a Pokemon battle. Her biggest weakness would probably be intangible forces she couldn't avoid or overpower, like TK or something, but she'd probably have her Pokemon help her overcome things like that. Perhaps the ideal upgrade might be something that allows her to share her Pokemon's abilities.

I certainly do see your point, at how it is a "risk", but if they're gonna keep making sequels like this, if the timeline is gonna keep moving, it's a problem they will not be able to avoid forever. For example, if whenever we get Legends Alola, and it's sequel, are we seriously not gonna see Lillie come back from Kanto? I've read some attempts but they are vastly outnumbered by Shirou or Gudakowank, the former being horribly mischaracterized because few actually read Fate while the latter is literally already an SI.

This is where the escalation part goes into effect because she keeps going all out in every confrontation and has to keep one up-ing the previous fight because her enemies are also getting more and more ridiculous, the story starts with a chinese cartel boss whose power is to turn into a dragon and gets stronger and heals faster the longer he fights to apocalypse lizard-thing that sunk Japan by spamming infinite tsunamis, all within the first 8 arcs out of 30. And that's about how far most fics get.
Eventually, in the end of Worm her power is now absolute control over every human being, her range is now multiversal. And the way she defeated the big bad Superman was throwing waves and waves of superheroes and villains from all dimensions before realizing the best way to beat him is by giving him ultra depression via making copies of his dead wife for him to kill.
So now what fanfics do is that they give her a broken power and then write the plot in a way that lets her min max her power to an unfathomably competent degree so that every conflict is rendered moot. And when she doesn't have a different power and isn't the main character, have the actual main character talk about how cool or scary or how much potential Taylor is and has. And if it's an SI, talk about how she has live to kill Alien God Superman because no one else can.

The girl who can manipulate luck's actual power is to know precisely what actions to execute to accomplish any task and being able to follow them perfectly. Suitably named Path to Victory.

I only read Borne of Caution in spacebattles but the format of the fic being posted in the same forum format as comments really gives power to them, people will keep poking at "plotholes" (aka the MC not doing the perfect action in XYZ moment) trying to subtly or not so-subtly pressure the creator to make it "smarter", the obvious conclusion is a power fantasy, but instead of a straightforward powerfantasy it's smarter this time because the creator adressed the little details that tickled their autism.
I don't think this type of narrative is bad per se, this is still Pokemon after all, but my impression is that ithe format closes other venues of storytelling.

In game you need the dogs to beat Eternatus once its awakened from being fed power, but once you actually capture it it loses access to its fuck huge form beyond using a single attack. But the dogs don't have any explanation to why they are so powerful, and ultimately it might just be down to the fact that they have access to their sword and armor that makes them steel types to counter the poison/dragon. We don't have anything on them beyond that they are immortal guardians who have protected Galar from Eternatus in the past.

Also since Dynamax is caused by Eternatus's power having seeped into the land it cannot Dynamax itself. It's boss form is arguably its dynamax form, but you don't have access to it in game. The dogs also do not dynamax, probably because they don't want to use the power of their sworn enemy. All three of them have signature moves that do extra damage to dynamax enemies though. So their is some story telling in the gameplay. The only other pokemon that does not dynamax through Eternatu's power is Calyrex, but he is able to dynamax under his own power (as his dynamax aura is a different color than every other mon).

So theoretically Arceus could dynamax under its own power as well, but god was dexcut. So its really not as concrete how well they match up since lore wise the dogs have nothing more going for them than being strong.
