The list of new mega evolutions were leaked months ago. If you have seen this then you should have known mega Arbok was not going to happen.

Ability and stat changes have made some megas less usable in competitive than their regular versions. This can easily be worked around by having the mega fill a different niche with their ability and stats.

The best megas have synergy between their stats and abilities. Mega Garchomp and Mega Tyranitar are both instances where they're not adding the kind of value that another mega could.
Then you have Mega Metagross and Mega Salamence. These should have never happened.
