Chespin hate, in particular, fucking baffled me. What is the goddamn issue?

People complain about it being a biped when it starts off as one. It's grass/fighting, a unique typing for a starter. It gets fucking Rollout so it can mow over flyers early game. Tepig hate I understand as Fire/Fighting exhaustion, but the Chespin line did nothing fucking wrong.

Yeah, legit the only gen where I don't like ANY starter. I also really hate how samey their first stages look. They all have the exact same big round head and have almost the same silhouette. Absolutely awful designs.

I was worried that I just grew too cynical and didn't like Pokémon anymore desu, but I actually really like the Gen 9 starters so it's really not that. The Gen 8 starters are really just shit.

the first stages absolutely. I initially leaned to Grookey but now I think the only solid line from "start" to finish is scorbunny - raboot - cinderace (dumb name). Thwackey and drizzile are awful, though. Inteleon is possibly the absolute worst final evo for a starter. Rillaboom is great though and I would have been happy evolving Thwackey into that had I played swishey swoosh.

The really funny thing about this is that they really just need to stop overdesigning them. If they would just do things slightly more obviously people would love them more. Serperior as a snobby "toxic" royal with grass/poison was obvious and would have been fine. Make original Samurott Water/Dark. Nobody would dislike that. Their insistence on subversion makes their decisions worse. See: Incineroar.
