it's a threefold thing i think: first and most obvious, slaking just isn't really that popular compared to typhlosion, it was never going to get as much attention no matter what the leaks said about it. second, which you already touched on, is that the slaking story is kinda really grim - not the one that's a clone of the typhlosion one, that's still hilarious - but the one about the cut up slakoths is just depressing, it's natural it'd have less reach because it's an uncomfortable read. third is maybe a little less obvious but it was very apparent when the leaks happened, slaking fans can straight up take a joke. probably has a lot to do with it being a joke mon in the first place, the new material didn't really get the fans riled up in a frenzy, so they didn't make a spectacle of themselves. they just had a sensible chuckle, made a few instant classic memes, and moved on.

Well, the initial translation was bad enough that it invented a female game freak employees name Yuu who doesn’t even exist, the real writer was a man. And half the translations out there imply a man got pregnant and throw in a fucking Tyrannosaurus rex out of nowhere.

The gist of that story is mostly correct. However it was an unmarried woman not a child (The words are extremely similar for some stupid reason and people intentionally went with child to make the typhlosion look worse). Also when the father came the typhlosion explicitly asks the girl if she wanted to go back with her father and when the girl says she wants to leave, the typhlosion says good bye, tells her their burial practices, and let's the father kill it.
