my gut says go with an alola game if they don’t play that many video games or prefer newer stuff, also bc the older you go back the games start to cost more and she might not even fw them
The anime moreso than the games are probably the most appealing starting point. I'd say exposure her to the first generation of the anime from episode one and depending on your ability and her level of technological understanding you could set up gen 1 of the games for her. The gen 3 remakes are probably easier to get into than the original original ones.
