Looking at Malamar's awful stat distribution, I wonder if this would be a min-max mega. Still dies to U-turn, waste of a mega slot, but hey, maybe they at least tried. Mega Malamar will probably be designed so that you attempt to get some Contrary boosts in with regular Malamar, then Mega Evolve afterward and get a different ability. Because of that I don't expect minmaxing, probably just a general increase on all stats and maybe putting the biggest stat increase into its speed.

That said none of this would apply to ZA which doesn't have abilities, they'll probably give Malamar a signature move to try and compensate rather than giving him stats that might be retarded if they're going to be accompanied by a single Contrary Superpower boost.

I always thought the line was just ok, I think the idea was better than the execution, and they should have tweaked the type chart to give it more resistances instead of its only interactions being an immunity to psychic, a 2x weakness to fairy, and a 4x weakness to bug. It was a failed concept from the beginning. Inkay is cute though.
