My lcs took my bulk bin of small value cards ($1-50) + not rare trainers/ex/v/gx (not alt arts) for 1k. That's around 80% value from what I calc'd. I actually got value for those cents to dollar cards that I couldn't get rid off hell yeah. I don't think I would've managed to sell any of those so 20% fee for just trading it all in is acceptable.
Time to be a retard and buy UPCs with it instead of buying singles I like keeeeek. But not from that lcs, it's like 2x above msrp. They're no strangers to scalping too. It's just single prices are so high right now that they'll take anything I guess?

Best advice is look at set catalogs on pokellector and double check pricing and pop reports.
everyone is chasing the new thing that people dont even remember cards that were released 3 years ago that might be worth it. there are some SWSH Black Star Promo's that have gotten stagnant and forgotten about. personally i like the Mewtwo V Union 4 cards. its a bit of a gimmick and you need all 4, but the only way to obtain it was through the promotional boxes. its mewtwo, people love mewtwo. its probably one of the top 20 most collected pokemon. you can get all 4 for like 40 bucks. which if you really think about it you are getting each card for 10 bucks a pop.
the pop reports are relativly low, stupid low compared to a modern market. its been on my list for a while. but you are going to NEED all 4. i aint got no crystal ball but i would think that aquiring something like this would fair well in a bearish market knowing everything i know. or i could just be blowing smoke up your ass.

A real collector should be trying to find the best route to acquiring the cards they want for their collection. When the best time to offload cards they don't want is, when the good times to buy the cards they do, etc. A retard with more money than sense shouldn't care about bear and bull markets.

I'll keep saying it til it finally sinks in for you all, the best way to expand your collection is for you to engage in the Pokemon card market. You will greatly expand your ability to grow you collection and acquire pieces you thought were out of reach. Then suddenly it's not because everyone wants to sell but no one wants to buy at ridiculous prices so the price/liquidity of cards fall until collectors find the price acceptable. So basically, this rich and famous youtuber asshole made collecting vintage Pokemon cards popular right before corona hit and caused the market to explode exponentially. Prices plummeted on modern cards, investors stopped buying them, and the world returned to normal. So the Pokemon Company went back down into normal overdrive. Has to do with pocket live releasing. It single-handedly brought back interest into collecting pokemon cards. The paradox rift set I was ripping nonstop for Water Garchomp EX and Iron Valiant EX suddenly jumped from below msrp to 3x msrp in a matter of weeks. I'll never understand the resentment people have for card variants, and the utter vitriol and bitterness for them being considered apart of the master set.
