The truly niche topics like underappreciated characters are interesting, because information about them isn't even fully online yet. So there wouldn't even be any existing data for AI to scrape from.
For example I wouldn't trust ChatGPT to analyze Sapphire's character if it's getting its opinions from the English web, which is full of cringe misinterpretations. Maybe if the AI was actually OCR scanning every page of the manga I'd give it a look, but even then it's not going to understand the full context without some training.

I think I got everything back from the b4k /vp/ archive, but if anyone has anything from the AI gen thread, either link a post, or repost it in the thread, and I'll add it to the collection. On model, anime style preferred. (Even though I personally prefer May to have bigger Mays) I did add that one May that isn't like the rest because of the AI voice.

So yeah, new gens always welcome. Especially if it continues one of your favorite anime scenes in a way you wanted it to go. Also accepting anything that can't be posted on a blue board. Just catbox it or something. Not literbox, I might not see it in time.

FWIW, to me 9/11 memes aren't about mocking innocent people who died, but the way the US (or at least its Nosepass overlords) planned/used the event and spun a narrative around it to justify its own much larger mass murder of innocents on the other side of the world. Finally got some free to time to start up the Emerald and first thing I notice is Viz must have just thrown in the towel with late RS-Emerald. I have the physical copies and there's these glaring errors like Japanese text still visible on speech bubbles, using Chuang Yi names (Kimberly, Zuzu, Kris' team) and getting speech patterns confused (Green (m) speaks like Bill for several FRLG chapters). The physical copied I have fix the CY name errors (though I usually prefer CY's names) but not the rest.

Makes one wonder if Viz just got the CY version and touched up the dialogue.

Anyways, I'm at the chapter where Ruby and Sapphire make a proper return and it's refreshing to see what they're usually like when they don't have a personal conflict. Though now I wonder about how a scenario where Sapphire is in the wrong/instigates a falling out would look like.

There are two ways to go with such jokes: 1. Making fun of victims, and 2. making fun of how the tragedy is politically utilized.

Take George Floyd's death for example: If we're for real, he was a victim of police brutality, and this fact wouldn't change if that was another person. "Jokes" whose whole point is to solely make fun of him being the stereotypical black aren't comedical. I mean, you can laugh about it, but your point isn't to add something valuable to the discourse or make something so absurd in order to illustrate how cruel reality is, but because you despise this nigger.

What - I assume - most people make fun of is how the left desperately tried to make a martyr out of Floyd, when he was everything else but a role model (kinda telling how every victim the left tried to idolize had a criminal backstory or did something that somewhat justified their deaths). Or how they care so much about victims, but if said victims are white (e.g. Tony Timpa), their empathy is nowhere to be found.

Agreed, this would be quite easy for us especially if we stick to gen 3 Mays who are pure. Anything after gen 4 is Pandora's Box. Leaving Japan, original dialogue from the Unovan ferris wheel man, BlackRock investments, sudden commie influence in Pokemon, ORAS Brendan and Team Aqua are suddenly brown, the region based on Britain has a black champion, the weird human character design choices after Alola (gen 9 being the most extreme culmination of this), sudden gay shilling between Nemona/Juliana in spinoff media, the kid who was kicked from a TCG tournament by a bluehair, it goes on.

It's not about banning OPs or whatever. OPs are meant to be things that most of the general's users can agree with or at least don't mind. Again, it doesn't have to be politics. If someone used Contestshipping or Advanceshipping in the OP, a segment of the general's regulars would feel annoyed enough to either spend the thread bitching about it or would choose not to participate in that specific thread (they could either not support the chosen ship because they support a different ship or because they hate shipping overall). It's just a fact that iffy OPs do impact the discourse in the thread they are attached to.

I had a small collection screenshotting late RS Viz fuckups, mostly with these circles where JP onomatopoeia was supposed to be replaced with English ones but never were. There are probably other mistakes but I only noted down the worst ones that stuck out to me.

This happens in RS at the Seafloor Cavern, where Sapphire has the usual tantrum, but she's becoming unreasonable this time because the location turns out to be dangerous and it's no time for tantrums. Ruby just ignores her and keeps her out of trouble until she calms down. Kind of like how you'd handle a kid kek.

It's a change of tactic because in the past Ruby would've (verbally) argued with Sapphire back or let her push him around a bit too much. But by this point, after he'd destroyed all his relationships, finally seen the bigger picture and realized he had to be proactive, he's likely decided fixing his friendship with Sapphire is worth overlooking her retard moments and being patient with her. It's also a delicate line between standing his ground or letting her make a bad decision, and trying to assert his own opinion without using intimidation. Since Ruby hates violence or scaring people (the very things he always associated with and hated about masculinity) but he can't run away from the situation anymore either, he just settled on stonewalling.

The stonewalling tactic fits Ruby better since he can both avoid conflict while technically also dealing with it. In this case he also comes off as the more mature one by not letting Sapphire's anger trigger his own, in what's ultimately him learning male stoicism. But of course ignoring Sapphire isn't the solution to every one of their conflicts, exemplified by their tension in the Emerald arc later on. Though Ruby's just copying his dad at this point who has 0 emotional intelligence so Ruby's not going to know any other way to deal with things at first.

While I hate how the Ditto trainer looks, it's a good compromise between letting the player converse with Pokemon without contradicting too much existing lore.

I want to finish off Emerald arc today. It's kind of insane that this was how the arc ended in its magazine run and fans didn't even know what would happen next until the volumes caught up in late 2007-2008. GSC and RS only waited a few weeks to see the volumes wrap up their arcs, but FRLG and Emerald are probably where the whole "one gen behind" pattern with volumes started.

Something I only noticed now is that Noland never talks to Ruby specifically but Sapphire instead. And it makes me wonder if Noland and Anabel are meant to be a gender flipped mirror of Ruby and Sapphire's relationship. And I think that contrasts with how we're introduced to the two conversing with Wallace and Winona. Of course Anabel and Noland are usually paired with Ash and Cynthia/a self insert respectively among fans but that's interesting to see of Kusaka intended it.

Sapphire's respect for the old dex holders and how emotional she gets when she learns they're petrified is also cute.

I like the gimmick of that new pokopia shit but I think it's going to fall flat one way or another.
Wish it would've been something like dragon quest builders but pokemon, with an actual trainer.
Then of course dress said trainer up to look like may. Still! Might have some fun remaking hoenn or something if that game has enough building when I get around to getting a switch 2 in a year or so.

Pokopia is actually the first game that made me consider getting a Switch 2. I tried getting into AC before but it never stuck, so I'm curious if Pokopia will do it for me instead. I'd also try recreating Hoenn in some way, maybe by only having Hoenn Pokemon hang out in my town, and of course dressing up the Ditto girl like May.

You can pick most modpacks from prism launcher and be fine, legit download the launcher and click add instance and then search cobble and you'll find tons.

My only thing is that I heavily, heavily recommend Radical Cobblemon Trainers. It adds not only trainers to fight but a level cap and gym leaders/rivals/bad team to fight to raise that level cap. It adds meaning to cobblemon and exploration in general since those rivals only spawn in certain biomes. I also like Fight or Flight which lets your pokemon fight mobs if you turn them on.

TLDR: Just grab a mod pack and then make sure it has radical trainers, other than that I just add a bunch of furniture mods mainly, maybe a car/plane mod to get around easier but you can also just get a mod that lets you ride cobblemon.

Once I started just walking around looking for hoenn mons and scanning shit with the pokedex, I was surprised how much it matched up to modern pokemon. I get the same feeling in cobblemon that I do from playing scarlet and violet when I'm just running around catching pokemon.

I'm 32, my school didn't teach very much about other countries, or maybe it wasn't my interest as a kid. I learned more about other countries by playing video games online with Eurobros and it took me until my mid 20s to even care about history. When 9/11 happened our attitude was to go kill all the terrorists and our civilians were not thinking about their civilians. We would say things like, pave the entire area and turn in into a Wal-Mart parking lot. Today it seems like our schools only teach about the fact that we were attacked, but the wars that followed. I've seen zoomers born after 9/11 asked about what it was, and many did not even know.beyond planes hit towers. Some of us understand, and some of us even think it was planned by our own government so we could attack for oil.
tl;dr The 9/11 generation wanted blind vengeance without knowing about our prior involvement. Today's generation is ignorant because they weren't taught about it. After all, history is written by the victors, and why would a victor admit when they are wrong?

Yep and I really think Sapphire and Ruby's role in this arc is exploring how they interact with a larger consistent group on a personal level. Since in RS arc they were both mostly travelling solo. In the Emerald arc, when trying to address Emerald's shit attitude, Ruby is indirect (during their Battle Dome fight, Ruby shows off how much he gets along with his Pokemon after he stopped being an asshole, implying Emerald should do the same) while Sapphire is direct ("Hey what's wrong, tell me your entire tragic backstory right NOW so we can be real friends"); Emerald initially hates them both but being emotionally repressed, he actually reacts worse to Sapphire because she's so earnest and expressive. Or later when meeting all their senior Pokedex holders, Sapphire is a cringe fangirl trying to shake everyone's hand and freaking them out, while Ruby mostly hangs back and doesn't seem to interact meaningfully with anyone besides Sapphire or Emerald (who is the main protag now so everyone is forced to talk to him anyway).

Ok this is insane, I've never seen it that way before. I'll go reread those parts, but it's true there's already some parallels in the Emerald arc from RS so it's not impossible.

I just never gave a shit about the Frontier Brains here before since like most volume readers, I didn't know the context of the Emerald arc initially being some gag routine between the Brains and Emerald. In context of the final volume version where the story turns serious later, it just looks like the Brains are randomly just being dicks to a 10 year old, so now a lot of people hate the Hoenn Brains for that. Though the original magazine runs are usually just shitty first drafts of the final story so they're usually worth ignoring in most cases.
