You can sit on benches to pass time. For the poison rocks, use a water move, you'll have access to the area where the fennekin branches are. And yes, you get a fennekin, there's a mission for each of the trio.

So I've looked through the text dump and I think I've figured it out.
You need the mega stones for Diancie and Mewtwo in order for the quests to actually activate.
Mimi will react if you have the Diancite, and the machines in Lysandre Labs will react if you have both Mewtwonites.
I have no idea how you actually get the stones though, can anyone that's far enough in the game see if the Quasartico trader gives them to you for the shards? That mega shard thing expands like 4 times in the text dump, so I assume that it has more options for Mega Stones.

So I've been experimenting with the battle-zone stuff. It seems being sneaky and doing bonus cards are a terrible way to farm for cash. If you can get a sneak attack thats great. But you wast alot of time sneaking and trying to do what the bonus says.

I find just running in and start taking down every trainer you can find as fast as possible is better for cash. Came out with 28 wins and 50k cash in pocket.

I think bonus cards are better if you are looking to level your rank faster. Im not sure if bonus cards give you more exp though, so thats still out.

Speed stat is not a priority but ATK buff/debuff is actually very noticeable. Don't focus just on damage value, some attacks work in a way that they pack a real punch, like the multi-hit moves since they always fire max times. Positioning and timing matter once you're used to the system, some attacks will move the pokemon next to you and some others might teleport them to the back of the opponent. Ranged damage vs close damage is something that can be cheesed to a degree but you need to understand your move's range first, some can reach really long and some do not. Attacks like Quick Attack charge quick and just move the pokemon next to the opponent so you should put one of those in your physical attacker to close the gap. There's a lot of early pokemon if you walk around a bit instead of waiting for Wild Areas to appear around. And most important: you can actually bring the menu in the middle of a battle just like in the normal games to heal!

No you are not forced to go into them. However every time it changes from day to night the game stops everything you are doing to show a cutscene of the day turning to night and the battle zone opening up. Its a little distracting and people have lost pokemon they were trying to catch because of the shift.

Stuff like growl and tail-whip are actually pretty good now, since you don't have to sacrifice a whole turn.

Be sure to buy plenty of status effect healing items. Unlike LA status effects do not go away after combat and you get them alot in this game. I find buying 5 to 10 each after each battle-zone night keeps me well stocked if not over stocked.

Great way to make alot cash is to do battle-zones at night time. Just focus on fighting as many trainers as you can. On that note you don't have to crouch to sneak up on trainers. From my experiments they don't hear you like wild pokemon.

Oh and there are plenty of pokemon outside of wild zones, some even rarer. So don't be afraid to get on a roof or go down a side ally because there could be something down there.

Just quick travel to the location you want to farm even if you're already there. This is only an "issue" if you want to farm a rooftop since you have to climb back but there's plenty of close spots anyways. You can get all the shinies and alphas and shiny alphas you desire like this. No big deal.

If you are doing cards in battle zones they give you tasks like "use a water attack while sneaking" or "Use two fire attacks" so you'll be rotating for that. However, doing bonus cards is not something you HAVE TO DO. Just makes things quicker rank wise.

Lumiose City is just an empty set of corridors, none of the buildings except like 3 are interactable or have any interiors, it feels like it should've been one of a dozen other locations in a fully fleshed out region rather than the main setting of an entire game.

It is a disgrace, but of course Pokemon fans will gobble it up and ask for seconds and that is precisely why Gamefreak can confidently display this level of incompetency on a frequent basis while making a ridiculous profit.
