I honestly don’t think that’s an excuse, because I’m not even saying that anime brown people should NEVER be depicted with light or unnatural hair/eye colors, more that they should be more thoughtful and restrained about it. I think Nessa, Raihan, are good examples of black characters with blue eyes, because they have black hair to balance it out. Most of Raihan bright colors come from his clothes and accessories, while Nessa has blue hair streaks as well. Olivia has black hair and eyes, her interesting colors come from her clothes. Hapu has gray eyes, but black hair, her pop of color comes from her clothes. Naveen has unnatural purple eyes, but they are dark purple, and his hair is dark brown, but he gets pops of color in his hair with his orange beads. These are all WAYYY better color design choices than the random color swapped NPCs. Even Jacinthe, who has too much white in her design because of her hair, at least has the decent to have DARK purple eyes. Could you imagine if they were sky blue, or some shit?
