Spikes + Infestation really does a lot of tick damage over time. I want to give my Whirlipede Toxic but I think it’s a level up move, though I can just use weepingbel for the toxic. If one gets knocked out I can finish the alpha off with any other Mon.

you need to advance the plot until you unlock subquests, that's when they stop "handholding" you since plenty of the concepts were introduced by that point. More stuff unlocks as you advance the plot. The Battles start to get more fun when you get more moves and alphas start to spawn which will be your main filter for a while. Night battles can be its own kind of fun

I'm having a lot of fun. Picked up my copy today and I lost four hours to just playing the game without worrying about efficiency. Exploring the city, trying to cheese wins on a level 27 pidgeot, sneaking up to a teleporting abra without abusing saves, leveling up towards that eventual shiny charm, 100%ing wild areas, and destroying everything in the overworld my moves can interact with.
I feel like a kid again and it's great. Will definitely pick up legends arceus after this if it's anything similar.

Just got to rank F. Trying to make my team all new mega evolutions so I got Pignite, Staryu, and Scolipede locked down. Using the Absol for now until I get more stones, and Victribell may not be kept since its typing is close to Scolipede. 6th slot is a filler slot for dex entries, just evolved a Talonflame then boxed it.

in case you didn't know, in legends arceus, your attacking stats barely affected your damage. i had gliscor and gyarados using special moves in legends arceus because the coverage and/or special effects actually mattered while their godawful special attack barely changed their damage whatsoever. in pla, speed and defensive stats were all that mattered
