Which is insane because the (relatively small) part that baffled me probably isn't even that important in the grand scheme of things. New thread so self shill time, I actively try to emulate pokemon's anime and game tone in PokeNormal. Despite the fact that the story is effectively a 'murder' mystery, the 'deaths' are more cartoon friendly 'vanished without explination' sort of deal. And I've got a 'no cursing' policy for the story, and somebody even left a comment about how it gave them the same vibes as official pokemon spinoffs. Pretty proud of that. Technically the villains are actively trying to kill kill the protagonists as opposed to vanishing them, and I do try to hit moments of genuine (bloodless) horror scenes. I want it to somewhat kid friendly.

Crystal Light does have more mature themes, but it's a very idealistic story. I'd say it's more of a young adult level of maturity. There may be a damn or two, and bollocks get tossed around. It does deal with issues of grief and loss, and one of the major themes is if ideals can survive reality. It's about as mature as your average fantasy story.

I have no idea what the plot is or how it goes beyond lysandre and his cult wants to fire the ultimate weapon. If that even is their goal.

Team Flare are composed entirely of rich people, most of which who bought their way into the team, and they all think the goal is to take over the world and make everyone who isn't in Team Flare part of a slave class. Gamefreak finally made a realistic villain team.
Lysandre, the leader, is actually a doomer who's planning to kill everyone including himself. He was obsessed with the idea that the world has finite resources that need to be carefully managed and sustained, and eventually this obsession tilted him over the edge into genocidal supervillain territory because poor people breed like rats and rich people are disgustingly decadent and wasteful.

Emperor Mateus: Straight up villainous team leader in a modern setting that uses an the power of an evil legendary. Giratina would be a more direct translation of his deal with the devil, and the distortion world works well for the story. Eternatus could also work as it can actively boost his troops as a parallel to him summoning demons to his army.

Xande: Pretty much Volo if his goal was specifically to end the world. His end game of summoning the Cloud of Darkness fits perfectly with trying to summon Necrozma to devour all light in the universe.

Golbez: Without going into to many spoiler and details, he is totally an evil team leader travelling the world to collect the regis to ultimately obtain Regigigas to reshape the world.

Exdeath: He is literally evil Xerneas. A spiritomb like entity, but instead of being sealed in an odd keystone the creators used sleeping tree form Xerneas as a vessel to seal away evil spirits. Turns out enough evil souls will eventually corrupt even the purest of spirits eventually. And his name is literally X-DEATH. It feels too perfect.

Ghestal: Fits perfectly with the narrative of creating shadow pokemon, with the active goal of hunting down and making shadow legendaries. Ultimate goal is to capture the creation trio. Kefka would be one of his admins with a sealed Hoopa.

President Shinra: Head of a Silph Co type organization that straight up uses Infinite Energy via massive pokemon harvest reactors. Discovered a fossilized Deoxys and mistook it for a Mew, making extensive use of it's genetic material to make super trainers.

I haven't moved it out of concepts yet but in the Dissidia crossover fic I've been kicking around I was considering the Cloud of Darkness not even being an active threat when it crosses over, unlike the other Warriors of Chaos, because the Distortion World suits it as a natural habitat and it simply assumes residence there.

Also considered Kuja losing his memory and being taken in by the Kimono Girls of Ecruteak City.

Edea: Something with Celebi, Jiraichi, and Cosmog. FF8's plot is very... Intricate, so I don't feel like going into full details of the ideas I have.

Queen Brahne: A chairman Rose esque character who gives fully into ambition at the advice of her new assistant, who has also provided her with the knowledge of how to mass produce an army of Golurks.

Sin: Kyogre travels the world just fucking society up, and has been doing so for hundreds of years, as punishment for humanity's sins.

Shadow Lord: 20 years ago the Shadow Lord waged war on the world with his armies of wild pokemon, forcing enemy regions to join as allies to stop him. Now the remants of his armies are becoming suspiciously more active.

Vayne: Honestly, I haven't finished 12 yet. I feel like something about Darkrai and the Lake trio would be involved. And Infinity Energy. Maybe Mega Stones? Wait, 12 is the same universe as tactics. That's something that needs to be considered.

Orphan: Can't even remember the evil pope dude's name, but his ambitions are literally just Volo's ambition. Fuck the world up so badly that Arceus has to personally return and fix it.

I don't even know wht the fuck is up with 14's story, I got through 3 whole main storylines and evidently the main plot doesn't even wrap up for two more expansions past where I left off. That's probably a good place to stop.

I've got my fingers crossed that the writer won't neuter Six and will allow him to participate in official battles with his own human* body, preferably with guns and grenades.

Have this idea for a fanfic about team galactic trying to go legit after the events of Platinum. It would focus on Saturn trying to get the company up and running while trying to avoid scrutiny from the Pokémon League, Interpol, and the public, as well as trying to grow into being a leader and moving past Cyrus. Helping Saturn along and acting as the new “admins” of the Galactic Energy Company would be four former team galactic grunts themed around the planets not already covered by the existing admins. One is Nereid, a former college student in Pokemon research who fell in with team galactic after she dropped out of Sinnoh University due to stress and is now head of r&d at galactic energy (ace: East Sea gastrodon). Umbriel (Uranus) was a contest star who hated contests, ran away to do the gym challenge, lost repeatedly to Crasher Wake and was recruited by team galactic during her ensuing existential crisis and is now head of security for Galactic Energy (ace: Gliscor). Vesper (Venus) was an irresponsible but charismatic slacker who bummed around the Lake Resort by lake acuity before joining team galactic thinking it was one of those fun free love and drugs cults and is now the head of public relations for galactic energy (ace: Lopunny). Finally, there’s Ermis (mercury), a career criminal and hacker who joined Team Galactic to lay low from the law and thought the whole destroy the universe thing was a scam and is now head of IT and communications for galactic energy (ace: Porygon-Z). Mars and Jupiter would also come back, initially as antagonists, as Charon’s neo-team galactic would serve as initial antagonists before making way for the true main antagonists. Mars’s arc would be her getting over her obsession with Cyrus and learning to appreciate the bonds she currently has with her fellow galactic members, eventually becoming the galactic admin of Human Resources, since she genuinely cares for her grunts/employees.

The true antagonists of the fic would, however, be a splinter cell of team galactic who are adherents to Cyrus’s vision of a world without human spirit ruled by team galactic, headed by a team galactic member named Kepler. The splinter cell’s goal would be to capture and completely control the lake trio. By doing this, they would be able to remove emotions from every human and Pokémon except for team galactic, thus the world and its people would bend to their will. Kepler himself is a man who believes in Cyrus’s no human spirit vision, but with more of an emphasis on the “team galactic rules the world” bit, with him very explicitly wanting to to have him and his followers shepherd the ignorant masses into a new age of peaceful, subservient bliss. His ace would be dusknoir and would specialize primarily in ghost, dark, and steel types.
