I've tried so many methods...
first I was looking around the whole zone and flying over, that's how I found the bellsprout and a pidgey. Then I tried the bench method and I found a fletching outside the zone. Then I discovered that going to the rooftops, this spawns new pokemon as well so I tried doing that a few times but didn't get anything
now I'm just going in and out the tunnel and checking everything after 20 "resets"

pretty sure i just wasted manipulated alpha rng while hunting mawile. had just cleared a zone which triggers alpha spawning, was getting alpha mawiles every reset. flew out and back in, resetting the entire zone, and now the alpha mawiles are rarely spawning. maybe it was lolrng but it was odd.

Yeah, you can skip a few entries, or I'd suggest skipping a few of the harder to do "catch 50 x type pokemon" ones. But 1000 battles is insane.
For anyone trying to grind up to 500/1000, I found there isn't too much of a difference between doing Restaurant Le Nah, and doing fights during the nightly royale (assuming you're fast as heck like I am). but Le Nah is more consistent, and is generally a bit faster (especially if you just spam quick attack). Also preferable for doing in the background while watching anything else (just given how many battles it takes. I averaged around 45 seconds per battle).

You just back in and out of the area using the fast travel map to reset spawns. It's totally miserable without a Charm. Keep teleporting to the nearest teleport, it resets every pokemon but saves the 10 first shiny that spawn in permanently, you can then clear the slots (catch them) and hunt for more. Keep in mind that ANY pokemon in a 20~ meter radius can be your shiny slots

Are Alphas even vaulable/useful? I know they have higher starting stats but they seem undesireable (difficult to reach spots and huge hitboxes to exploit)

Are the 2 Gengar and Ghastly from the Rust Syndicate quest shiny locked? I tried looking it up, found a thing that said all static encounters are shiny locked but these don't seem to be static encounters since you don't have to interact with them to battle. Going in and out of the house is super fast so if they can roll as shiny then it would be a faster method of getting a shiny gengar.

I've hit 500 battles bros. Just 6-10 more hours and then I can get all the shiny pidgey I could ask for.
