>People found his personality very boring then. And even saw the rare Ash/Dawn arguing scenes as tired retreads.
Alainfags still making up excuses after being exposed. I was on discussions thread on DP series and literally nobody was bored with Ash and Dawn. If anything the thread was even more hype than XY series Ash having an actual co-protagonist as his partner and a rival that actually push himself further.
>what, that is largely gone in XY because he's actually more mature from the former standpoint
Losing all his consistent character traits to become some prince charming that everybody simps over is not maturity.
>Both competitive with each other and raring to battle to the point they rush things. WOW. How different from how we've always see him.
Except Barry didn't saw Ash as a rival, he was more obsessed with Paul and saw Ash as a stepping stones to reach Paul's level.
>Ash questioning himself was nice. But wait, he immediately snapped out of his "depression" in less than an episode
Oh no , Ash was actually matured enough to understand his shortcomings and actually snap out of his depression on his own on DP series instead of being a weak pathetic loser who waits for his female companion to throw snowball at him to snap out of his depression.
You call it maturity ???
>You seem allergic to the idea that just because Ash stays 10, he can NEVER grow out of his flaws
By your logic every protagonist should lose their individuality and become blank husk of a characters like Jin-woo in name of maturity. You are no different than those tasteless DB fans that complain over Super & Daima because Goku acts like Goku and not like Superman.
Truth is you don't want protagonist, you want blank shell of characters that are invincible, hardly loses, has every characters kiss the very ground they walk and consistently needs aura farming and high budget visual to attract audience.
