My guess is that it's because Floette was revived specifically with the weapon, but AZ just got extended life as a side effect of being there as it fired. Maybe Floette is still mortal too, just with a longer lifespan as a result of more energy being poured into her.

The game really needed more scenes with the player and AZ to sell this, I think. For the most part he just stands around the Hotel barely ever interacting with Team MZ. I think including him in all the scenes where they eat dinner would have gone a long way.

Thought the same. He calls you his greatest friends but you spend more time with Corbeau than him. I guess AZ probably spent most of his life alone and wandering so even a few evenings talking with some teenagers is more social interaction than he's had for 3000 years, but it feels like the MC barely knows him in return. There should have been a main mission that you spend with him one-on-one. Even if it was something goofy like you have to accompany him to buy groceries and you fight some troublemakers on the way.

He built Ange as a purely defensive tool that'd protect the region in hopes that it'd make Floette come back and they could control it together, which didn't end up working. He says as much during the game. It going haywire, seeping Mega Energy, and then growing a bunch of vines was an unexpected consequence of it's connection with Floette and the overflowing Mega Energy from the Ultimate Weapon's firing 5 years ago.

I doubt that, it's Infinity Energy that's responsible for their longevity, not the Ultimate Weapon. The latter is just a tool to make use of the former.

No one really talks about it, but what intrigues me is the eternal flower. Apparently, it's a species of flower that disappeared long ago, suggesting that this flower still exists thanks to the power of immortality conferred on Floette with Ultimate Weapon (which looks strangely similar to the flower, so AZ was probably inspired by his Floette to design this machine).

These colours are similar to the Aura Trio, as if they were related. Black as a base, with red or blue reminiscent of Xerneas or Yveltal. Not to mention Zygarde Complete, which also has these two colours.
Its reaction to life energy with the Ange is also more than unusual.

AZ was my favorite character from XY, so I'm sad at how he was handled in LA. I wanted to interact with him for a few side quests, and listen and learn about what he's picked up over his 3000 year life. And I'm upset I couldn't see and interact with him in his actual final moments. Also let's face it, once we get his Floette it's going to get stuffed in a box in Pokémon home as a trophy until the end of time, so he's going to be sad again in the afterlife.

It was kinda sad but AZ never had proper development. He doesn’t get much time in this game, either. I feel like him reuniting with Floette at the end of X and Y was supposed to be one of the most emotional moments in the series but it just kinda wasn’t cause X and Y had horrible writing.
