Instead of it being a cute bonus reward, it has turned into yet another innate trait that simply makes certain Pokémon less desirable that others. Alongside IVs, these two features are the antithesis of what Pokémon constantly preaches.
"Your Pokémon is your friend and you can amount to anything! But there are much better ones or rarer ones. And you are either born with these characteristics or you are flawed".

Shiny hunting culture is pathetic and not what the original developers probably intended.

Raising the odds of encountering them was a mistake, "methods" were a mistake, the Odd Egg was a mistake, and any free shiny (with the exception of the red gyarados, as it exists to show you what shinies are and has some fun story relevance) is a mistake

Kinda, i think it wasnt handled well long term.
Pokemon with alternate colors or patterns on the coat should have been gradually introduced over time while shiny should have kept the focus on the shine.
The flash has been pretty minor with most of the focus on the color change.

Shininess is only valuable because it was rare. The fact that they "increased" methods of finding them because they wanted little Timmy to feel special makes it retardedly redundant

Should have just committed to try making visual variants of Pokemon instead of keeping Shinies

Any shiny post-gen 4, I consider illegitimate

i don't really know any actual fans that care about shinies. to me, it feels like content slop for youtubers who's sole income relies on playing pokemon. it feels very soulless, and a much different experience than what is actually intended by it.

Classic shiny hunters tend to have much smaller channels because they probably only upload a maximum of once a month.
Hard to find but their videos are kino.
