Unfortunately Gyarados being common makes him hard to use, and his mega not getting filter makes the loss of rock stab suck a lot more. He's also stupidly slow so he just eats a lot of chip damage. That said, still got to A rank with him on my team because this is still the best he's probably been in a game.

It’s a lot easier to get points by being skeevy and 3rd partying 2 mons that are already in the midst of a battle.

Using special moves is so slow because the moon will walk backwards or forewards to a specific location next to you before they use it.

Confusion is the worst status, has no noticeable effect and means the drawback of Outrage etc. doesn't exist. Status heals.

Paralysis slows your actual movement. Doesn't really matter, effectively it does nothing. Status doesn't heal.

Sleep slows your attack cooldown, but this means it has no immediate effect if they haven't already attacked. So does nothing of value unless you use it on a Pokemon that's already used an attack or two, and you haven't been directly fighting yourself. Status heals.

Toxic Poison and Burn are both great, and they don't heal.

Maybe because being Dragon type makes him hit Chomp pretty hard. Physically, Zard does have better coverage too. I'm assuming that's why.

Went on a 7 win streak this morning with Feraligaror, Excadrill and Talonflame and jumped from Z to H in like an hour. I can't tell if I was incredibly lucky or the people I was fighting against had no clue what they were doing. Seems like people just don't switch out Pokémon ever. Gyarados is the only competitive one that made me scared though since it can pretty much wreck my whole team. Wondering if Ampharos with Dazzling Gleam or Froslass with Thunderbolt would be better options over Talonflame to counter both Garchomp and Gyarados. Why the fuck are there so few good special attackers in this game?

Physical > Special, and anything that can go physical should.
Zard X isn't phased by most of the usual suspects for dragon checking, and fucks steels, making it a good partner to other dragons.
Zard Y needs Drought more than Zard X needs Tough Claws.
Zard Y gets fucked by very common moves packed onto pokemon.
Zard X is bulkier, and speed doesn't matter as much as normal.
Zard X has the potential to not mega, in situations where X is hard countered, while base and zard Y are countered by the same things.
Zard X has the potential to go mixed for mixups, Zard Y is too bad at physical to be relevant.
Really, that Zard Y has anything at all, is just because it's an unexpected mixup to Zard X, since there's no real reason to run Zard Y, so nobody expects it.

Kind of sucks, she was my favorite mega to use in singles, but most of her positives just aren't good in this game. She just doesn't do anything for you defensively, and offensively she's just okay. Shame. Feels the same using any fast Pokemon in this game really. I wish Speed did more than reduce cooldowns and actually decreased move startup times. Fast Pokemon don't really feel fast as a result.
