I imagine the original game boy components are so far removed from what a remaster would need to be for modern consoles that the games would essentially have to be recreated from scratch, and the link mechanic or whatever it was called wouldn't really translate at all.

They’re turn-based RPGs, the engine being a little bit slower hardly matters when there were so many other gameplay improvements. Hard to say if it’s really even slower overall when the originals had a bug where the HP bars would drain at a comically glacial pace if the Pokémon had a high enough amount of HP

Or they could have made a new game that I haven't played before. Remakes are intrinsically tethered to the original game, essentially parasitic, and cant stand alone. Its false valor, you didn't present this new world to explore it already existed. If I took my Pokemon Gold game and scribbled "Dokemon Gold" on it and distributed it I dont get to claim I made a game just as good as gamefreak I didn't do anything. If you strip away all the aspects of HG/SS that are from the original game then you're just left with a kimono girls cutscene and a working apricorn ball, completely hollow.

I feel like Zeldafags consistently avoid playing these two games, so I'm not sure how "beloved" they are. I've only played Oracle of Ages and LTTP (with OoA being the only one that I actually made meaningful progress in before stalling) so it's special to me, but none of the people I've talked to who claimed to have played a lot of Zelda games have ever played either of the Oracle games. Out of the pre-Gamecube Zelda games, the ones most people played are usually Ocarina of Time, LTTP, and Link's Awakening. Then you have a few people who played the two NES Zeldas and fewer than that who finished Majora's Mask, and basically none of the Zeldafags I've ran into in my entire life have played either Oracle game. So it's not shocking that they keep not getting remakes.

Totally has nothing to do with Majora's Mask's release.
Capcom Zelda historically get fucked over by timing of releases and the deadlines Nintendo keeps pushing forward.
That's why they stuck with Kirby before Capcom recalled Flagship Ltd.

and it's funny, GBA games like Minish Cap would have benifitted a lot if it got a DS release like with PMD Blue Rescue Team and Squeak Squad.

While there's no real evidence, it seems to be the case. The Oracle games and Minish cap are the only ones not referenced by Hyrule Warriors Legends, seems a bit of an odd specific group of games since they were all made by Capcom.
>>11785380 (OP)
The release date was awful, they came out like a month before the GBA which had all the marketing blitz behind it. By this point people were getting tired of the two versions of the same game formula everyone had copied off of Pokemon, many assumed it was just the same game with slight differences. Gamecube came out months later as well, just too much money for the average Nintendo fan to spend stuff on and the 8 bit Links Awakening looking game with less marketing just didn't make the cut.
