>>11796047>but sex sells and that is basically the end of the argumentSo something is good if it sells? Is Avengers:Endgame the best movie ever made, better than Casablanca and Citizen Kane and the Shawshank Redemption?
I am not talking about reaching big audiences and making money, if you focus on just that you usually end up with pure slop. I'm talking about artistic value, but I'm starting to feel like you guys don't even see games as a (potential) art form or just don't care.
>Most people get annoyed by your argument, because if leads to censorshipWell I'm not advocating for censorship. I think people should be allowed to make whatever the fuck kind of game they want (unless you are making a game where you rape babies or something but you know what I mean). I don't think devs should go the way some modern games go either where they completely ban sexy outfits no matter what the character is like. I think Mortal Kombat is a good example. They had a noticeable shift from making every character look like a literal stripper to covering literally everyone up and I feel like the some characters actually benefit from getting covered up more while some fit much more at home in the "stripper" era. Like Mileena's design and character works best when she looks like picrel, but for a character like Sonya Blade it just felt embarrassing to see her run around in these revealing outfits and she got a lot better when they covered her up. You shouldn't mindlessly sexualising or desexualising EVERYTHING in your game, instead be mindful of it. Characters should be allowed to be sexy but don't overdo it. Don't make it "fanservice"
