>>11803002>yo unc this shit is hella outdated no cap 2D gaming is some ohio no rizz thang frfr? This was an extremely common opinion in the mid-late 90s. 3D gaming was the future and 2D games were retrograde. Zoomers obsess over 2D indie games, especially when they rip off Earthbound.
a remake would actively devalue it. you can play it on modern systems and phones already.

Doesn't need to happen, the game is fine but I like when old games are updated for modern displays. I get why some people are reflexively against it when shit like picrel happens but there are remakes that put in the effort. Ninja Warriors Once Again, Wild Guns Reloaded, R-Type Dimensions and Cotton Reboot immediately come too mind.
>>11802931>can't die from falling to a bottomless pitIt's the best Castlevania

>>11803085I like some remakes, but many aren't good, and many remakes and remasters in the last decade have just been incredibly underwhelming. There's also that whole "... for modern audiences!" cancer which is going around these days, and which makes me wish for for these people to die.

>>11803581>Also Konami how they are now I don't want them anywhere near any video game period.This. So much this. A lot of studios in Japan have been taken over by marketing executives and people who don't know anything about game design. Konami is one of these casualties. Any attempt at a remake would be marketing's attempt at fanservice with no idea of what really made the game good. The guy who made Castlevania into Castlevania is not with Konami. He now does the Bloodstained series.
I'd love to see an HD version with the same sprite art, just with the ability to upscale to modern screens. But you know it would go wrong. We're all better off just playing Bloodstained instead of wishing for a remake at this point.
>>11803596Have you played any other Castlevania games, by chance?

I don't think it's the best game ever, it's kind of a hodgepodge in some ways, and it's very easy, but it's enjoyable. The GBA and DS games refine its formula much further.
>>11803640Yes.
>>11803632>The guy who made Castlevania into Castlevania is not with KonamiThere was years of Castlevanias before Igarashi was put at the helm, don't get too hasty.
>>11803645Great! Do you pay attention to the games you play closely enough to describe the differences in behavior between the Axe Armor in Rondo and the axe armor in SotN? Or, perhaps, the bone-throwing skeletons?
It really needed a no exp mode and grinding caps, like make it random for the first 100 enemies of a type you kill and then a guaranteed drop, but if a player is willing to kill a thousand of them for an item then there is no reason to make them waste all this time.
Also they really have to fix those retarded inputs for the spells, they really don't work most of the time.

>>11802925>The actual moment to moment gameplay is awful.weird way to describe symphony's problems. the momeent to moment gameplay is ok, alucard controls fluidly and enemies behave as you'd expect. it's just really unbalanced stat wise.
>>11803753I disagree. The most efficient movement option for half the game requires inputs likely to cause an RSI, and many of the enemies have severe design flaws. Flaws that are very obvious when you compare them to their Rondo counterparts. Alucard's stats being over-tuned is only mildly problematic in comparison.

to elaborate on remake hate: these older games are beloved largely because they were well-done for their time. Now there's a million metroidvanias, good and bad, all over the place. But the games that did it first, and really well, are remembered for that exact reason. Asking to remake a classic video game is like asking to re-carve the statue of David, re-paint the Mona Lisa, re-film The Godfather, or re-build the pyramids, "but better this time!" Just leave it alone. You can perfectly emulate the experience if you want to relive it. There are mod communities to change things if you want. Truth is, original classics can never be truly remade.
