Do you remember the hype surrounding "Zelda Gaiden"?
Do you remember the day you got your copy of Majora's Mask?

I read a bunch of beta stuff in a magazine and was hyped for the game coming out. I was surprised how much it differed from what I had imagined.

>Shiggy
wtf I thought the internet or even /v/ came up with that nickname for him
Anonymous No.11803427 [Report]

idk why you thought that, his name is Shigeru, and it's easier to say shiggy

I posted on an NES message board around this time and some autist was upset because he thought "Zelda Gaiden" was a ripoff of "Ninja Gaiden."

Anyway I wasn't super interested in the game until I played it at a friend's house. I immediately fell in love with it. Maybe my second or third favorite Zelda title.

never saw Picrel but I had nintendo power so I only saw a few of the actual Beta stills from the game. I remember when I first played and rented it, my parents got me the collectors edition for christmas that same year. Probably one of the more memorable ones

If you mean OP's image, it's from the game booklet.

That prologue is so repetitive it's redundant.
>echoes a legend
>a legend held dearly

>tells of a boy
>a boy who

Dude, this was an awesome time to be a kid and on the Internet, and deja vu: I suddenly remember reading that you would get to play as Skull Kid.

Zelda peaked with Link to the Past.
Anonymous No.11808259 [Report]
Not that I recall even though I was already reading IGN every day. And yes, I got it on release day and remember getting it from the store. It's really not that great of a game it just has "dark and mysterious" vibes that made it feel deep to a 10 year old.

naw i meant the images from the beta, some of them look closer to the main game while others you can tell are early designs based off the style

Does anone remember the promotional website for OoT? There was a stupid minigame about diving into a well and avoiding obstacles/enemies, but I can't remember anything past that.

My mom let me stay up every night to watch the show Andromeda because every eposode was "brought to you by the Legend of Zelda... MAJORA'S MASK".
It was a maybe ten second bumper and it showed the Goht fight.

Yes. I was a retarded megafan of Zelda since ALttP and I was shittin brix in anticipation.
>Do you remember the day you got your copy of Majora's Mask?
I screamed like the N64 Kid when I opened my Christmas gift and it was inside. I raced on all fours upstairs to my N64, opened the box like the Ark of the Covenant, and placed it in the console.
>This game requires an Expansion Pak to play
>FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
I had to wait until the following day when FuncoLand opened to buy one. It then became my favorite game ever until I was an adult.

I remember the first time I saw this commercial my parents were out buying a new car or test driving one and this popped onto one of the lobby TV's. I'll never forget how excited I was watching it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9zvIJyF4M8

Yes, I think I had a realistic view. I knew it was a "fast follow" in order to make some extra money off the OoT engine and capitalise off the success of OoT. Well, I have played OoT heavily and 100%'d it (all gold skulltulas, etc.) and I really thought it was amazing game, so I thought, if MM is like 10% as good as OoT then it would be worth it. Well, it turned out it was probably about 20%-30% as good as OoT, so I was pleasantly surprised. Although it was basically an "asset flip" and it was much smaller in scope than OoT, it did have some interesting ideas. Weird thing was people who thought MM was a better game, but these tended to be people who had only played OoT for a couple of hours and hadn't really gotten into it.

I'm 44, I've never really cared about 3D Zelders and I drifted away from Nintendo Power before they got this far, but people kept talking up Majora's Mask and I like large-scale time limits in games so I thought I'd give it a try
