I was in a strange situation where I had my NES up until 1998 when I got an N64 and skipped the SNES and Zelda 2 was my only zelda until OoT. I never beat it back then but I enjoyed the adventure.

I always thought Zelda 2 felt oddly easy for an NES game. That is, until you get to the valley of death. Then it turns into a fucking nightmare.

There were quite a few. Zelda 2 didn't invent the genre but it brought an age of action-adventure especially in 1987, Rambo, Castlevania 2, Battle of Olympus, Faxanadu, Cosmo Police Galivan, Cosmo Police Galivan, Gargoyle's Quest 1 and 2, Fire Bam, The Maze of Galious, that Wonder Boy game that's not Wonder Boy on Famicom, Rygar, I'd argue that all those games (and then some) owe something to Zelda 2, some more than others and I mostly just listed NES/FC game.

Helluva game. I haven't made it past the three eye rock palace yet, but what a trip it was to get there. This game has got to be zoomer-proof without the use of a manual.

>Cosmo Police Galivan, Cosmo Police Galivan,
I think you accidentally double-listed Galivan and meant to put Chester Field in there somewhere. If nothing else Chester Field is notable for being mentioned in Nintendo Power as a game that was going to be translated and released in the US, but never made it. The dungeon designs are cancer though.

Just had a dream that Trump likes Zelda 2 and he plays it all the time (and is really good). I watched him play and he came upon a variant of one of these guys >>11807298 in a hallway at a dining table, but it was a cyclops and instead of maces or whatever it shot big long eyeballs out of its eyeball. He expertly maneuvered up to it and slew that motherfucker and kept on. I'll note that in this dream version, the game seamlessly transitioned between side-by and top-down during the fight, so it was more like if Zelda 2 had retained the original top-down experience from Zelda 1 and also added on the side-by scrolling. I actually hot my hands on the game and played that version of Z2 in my dream. It was fun.

I was like 4/5 years old when I went to the rich kid's house. He had an NES and he played this game. He pushed buttons and I saw the dialogue come up on the screen and I realized that HE COULD TALK TO THE PEOPLE IN THE GAME BY PUSHING THE BUTTON TO TALK TO THEM. OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER

I realize that this comes off as a basedpost, but I was very impressed at the time.
