>give no drawbacks to charging all the time >give charging a very prominent sound effect
This is my biggest pet peeve with any entry where you can charge the blaster.
Unironically, X is far more balanced than Zero. Fighting bosses is far easier and more consistent. You need to carefully consider your stage order with Zero
Seen an anon say it before but I think he had a pretty good point. Would have been better had they allowed you to switch between X and Zero on the fly during the stages. I guess to start you could have chose between the two but then for the campaign you can switch between these two on the fly. So it would have been what X3 tried to implement but far better. I guess you'd lose out on the two unique stories and some characters but after you seen the story enough you just want to play the game anyways. I'd take in level swapping any day.
The only reason X is more effective than Zero (inb4 Zero's dash cancel glitch) is because the devs gave him the ultimate buster for free.
>fourth armor's cannon is obviously designed to charge four shots >the charged shot sucks >instead of fixing the fourth armor, devs just give you an alt cannon >now the ultimate armor feels way less special since it's just the fourth armor with infinite giga attack
Lots of fuck ups if you ask me.

The stock-shot buster would be better if the charge shots could hit through boss i-frames, like an extra bit of chip damage that adds up per hit after the first.

Zero is "kewler" but the games are built around a run and gun formula, Zero's melee based moves just never sat comfortably enough to give him an advantage.
MM has always struggled to find a way to make another playable character valid or worth it, because the game system was just so based around Mega Man skillset

The story of MMX shouldn't exist, it just makes X seem like a wuss. These games story is just robots who fight for human kill robot who don't. Needs nothing more
I played X1 when it was a new game.
"This is fucking incredible. It's like a miracle of gamecraft."
I played X2 and X3 when they were new games.
"S'alright. Decent diversions. They vary enough. Music's still really good."
I played X4 when it was a new game.
"Holy SHIT, that's what I'm talking about. Please keep going in this direction."
And then they just fucked it up after that.
I have absolutely zero idea why people shit on X4.

I mean they spell it out for you basically every thread, just gotta press them for a bit. Simple answer is it's not on Nintendo so it was a betrayal game.

Playthroughs with Zero in this game are favorite action game ever, nothing compares and I can't think of anything alike it or that compares because the little pea shooter in the Zero series sucks dick

I think the zero spinoffs took the wrong direction with the focus being off of the saber. Maybe it was a control limitation but the possibility of stringing together moves for combos was always a delight in the X games, but in Zero attacking is so much less fluid and interesting.

screen space probably has something to do with it too, I was just so deflated knowing what could have been throughout the entire Zero series, I probably shouldn't have played them all even, it just isn't the same without my HUU HYA HUUH

The Zero series has a relatively complex and absolutely opaque combo system. Certain moves can combo into and overcome the i-frames of others, and there's a tier pyramid arrangement that naturally results in a flowchart of how to kill a boss near-instantly. There's also stuff nobody ever tells you, like firing the buster while dashing does one point more of damage than firing while standing or walking, which can be the difference between an enemy requiring a second shot or not.

The English dub. It's the absolute worst in gaming, and it's not even so bad it's good, just tepid and grating.

X4 levels are also really basic compared to the previous, level design and enemy placement felt like an afterthought to the stage gimmicks and "story", I still consider it a better MM game but it has some inferiorities to the previous games, still much better than anything after too

Is he, really? I remember Zero could cancel his normal slash to do a rapid slash that just melts enemies and bosses alike. Of course, I'm not considering X's cheat mode.
>>11813932 >firing the buster while dashing does one point more of damage than firing while standing or walking
This is an old one though.
That was in X1.

Replace this with Zero and that's my take. The only Megaman game I will ever not play Rock or X in is 10, because it feels like a rage game if you don't play as Bass.
