I can run through it in ~20mins without warps. With...5-6mins.

If you go 1-2 to 4-1 then 4-2 to 8-1 you can probably beat it in about 10-15 minutes. That was my average in high school and I'd play ot like once or twice a week after school waiting for my buddies to come over.

If you're a speedrunner, around 5min. If you're good at it, between 5min and 10min. If you're a more casual SMB fan, 10min to 15min. In the end it doesn't matter much, warps or no warps, 5min or 20min... as long as you save your beloved Peach it's good, that way Mario can get his reward when they come back home later.

you overestimate the time it takes to beat this games warp strat between a not speedrunner but still competent player vs an actual seasoned speedrunner. both are capable in performing sub 5 minutes. the effort it takes to go from 4:59 to RTA WR is unironically catastrophic of a difference.

I don't remember which levels have 400T and which have 300T so I'm just going with the lower number:
If you let the time run out on every level as you touch the flagpole or axe, 300T × 8 × 4 × 0.4 seconds = 64 minutes at most. Assuming 100T per level on average, you'd beat it in about 22 minutes.

The time limit for the game is 74 minutes 40 seconds accounting for all 32 levels. The fireworks, castle entrance, pipe travel, bean stalks, and level seguees all would add extra time so maybe around 80 minutes
