The first on FDS is too slow to bother with and basically is fully outpaced by 2. I really like the battle system in 3 and the quasi-Final Fantasy presentation when the action plays out. It can be a bit unfair though, and the Sengoku and Knight Gundam maps seem to involve a bit of trial and error in terms of learning where your bases are. Haven't played enough of 4, I liked what I played of the campaign mode but I hit a wall on the stage in which you only have automated units and you are vastly outnumbered. Didn't like how it completely changed the battle system established in 3 either. They would return to the action sequences of the first two games with GX on the SFC, and that game does seem to have some dedicated players still with how big the maps are.
