I saw this one the other day. It's from a video game magazine but it's for a game you play by dialing a phone number. Some kids probably cost their parents a fortune trying to play this thing.

>there were certain games they advertised a lot more than others

Bubsy had nowhere near the advertising budget of Sonic. But Accolade did put a lot of advertising behind the first game. Plus Game pro and other magazines were really hyping the game.

Bubsy lost a lot of steam by Bubsy II. Though, apparently Bubsy 3D actually did sell pretty well. Can't ind any magazine ads for Bubsy in Fractured Furry Tales, which was (still is) a Jaguar exclusive.

>this one really stuck with me

I wish I could get a version of it that doesn't have the crease down the middle, due to the image being scanned out of a magazine. I do like how all of these related 'hard stuff' ads use the same wide angle fish lens. They were probably all photographed weeks apart from each other. Image related is an add for Virtua Cop 2. Which doesn't use the same 'hard stuff' slogan, as this is an ad from late 1996.

>Me in the middle

I honestly like the concept with the skinny 'nerdy' guy, the boomer dude, the grandma, and the little guy with the two shot guns. Rockstar also did something similar with the original Grand Theft Auto advertising with the 'police like-up' and their ads appeared in Magazines between April-May 1998. The Duke Nukem Time To Kill/ Forever ad is June 1998. Pretty sure it shows a version of Duke Nukem Forever that was made in the Quake II engine. Before they switched to UE1. In 1996 Duke Nukem was hot as shit with Duke Nukem 3D. It was one of the best selling PC games of that year. In 1998, seeing ads for Duke Nukem Forever was hype. This Duke Nukem art is peak design.

>Sega had the worst and weirdest advertising when it came to the Sega Saturn.

Sega of America's advertising went through roughly three stages. There was the 'Head for Saturn' Launch campaign that was 1995-mid 1996, then from mid 1996-1997 they tried to bring back the Sega Scream. The 1997 to cancellation was the 'Hard Stuff' advertising.
