If the player-character in the action sequences is just a statue, and the player-character in the overworld sequences is the angel, and the angel also tells you what to do, and what you do is what the angel does, then is the Master even real?

the statues are inanimate until the master ihabits them.

the angel is following the master's orders.

You're some kind of Olympian style god in a Temple of Zeus that flies in the sky, and you're never seen and it's not even clear if you have a physical form until you inhabit a statue.

The "god" character is incomprehensible because it's literally you, the player, holding the controller from the other side of the tv screen
