eBay charges upwards of $250 for shit like Chrono Trigger and most in-person stores have prices even higher or games not in stock.
What are some good websites to buy retro physical games? Is Facebook Marketplace one?

Gatekeeping is a cancer that kills hobbyists.
All I want to know is where I can find older games at a decent price. I don't want to spend $300 on Chrono Trigger NTSC-U when a NTSC-J copy NEW is only $40.

Yard sales and lots of luck. Your only hope is finding someone who doesn't know how much that shit sells for. Personally, I recommend that you download a ROM set and call it a day.

Sadly, we don't have many yard sales in our state, at least for old games.
I might get a flashcart and homebrew my PS2 to be honest.

Do you really suppose a place like that exists? You're asking for someplace that's, like, free of the need for money, free of the need to limit distribution of items whose supply is perpetually decreasing... where in the world could that be?

There's nowhere. Stop going after well known and cult classic games if you don't want to spend a ton of money.
