The NotBlood port allows that among other features. It even has a mode that disables all enhancements and allows DOS compatible demos.

I never really see Blood fans freak out when people criticize the hitscan, aside from occasional autists maybe. The devs even admitted it was a cockup and not intentional.

Blood fans tend to be both chill and recognize the seething that comes from sucking ass at the game when you start. The learning curve starts really high as you get obliterated by cultists, but as you learn to deal with their limitations you realize that the mobility and explosives are what make it so damn fun. Its like the game forces you to learn how to enjoy it.

Hitscans are fine, just strafe in and out of cover with each shot and use dynamite to clear rooms.

I never really got that complain since I think they're far better balanced than other hitscan enemies like Doom 2's chaingunners.
>you can outrun their turning speed
>they stun easily
>crouching seems to make them miss more
>only start attacking at mid-range rather than as soon as a pixel is within their line of sight
>more of a threat when grouped up
>loudly announce their presence
>they're the only enemy who actually pose a challenge
Unless you're playing on that co-op difficulty you can go through most levels without having to savescum your way through it.

Using cover in an FPS does not make a game a cover shooter. Also, if you need to savescum in any game, you're playing at too high a difficulty for your skill level.

They'll immediately start shooting you if you're within that "mid-range". Doom enemies at least have a reaction timer.
A lot of people also seem to judge Blood's difficulty solely on Well Done and above. WD and up they're consistently hitting you, Lightly Broiled and below feels like they're barely managing to hit you half of the time. The difficulty spike is crazy compared to its contemporaries.

Well obviously anyone playing NotBlood has also played Blood. Its not fun to have to pop out everytime you want to shoot someone, also its way more "not playing the game" to save the game. There is not punishment for dying then. Also Quake is more fun with all projectiles in Arcane Dimensions.

Didn't some later ports of Duke 3D have a rewind feature? I seem to remember a 360 port having a full on timeline of the map to the point you died. Never kept up with the versions and refuse to give bobandy any money.
