I got the Jungle Green N64 set w/DK64 at launch–as an adult–and played the everloving shit out of it. I don't think I wasted any time with it. I've not revisited it desu, but I enjoyed that playthrough at the time.

I'm so glad the toys r us I went to had a N64 kiosk with this game on it. I couldn't believe how slow and sluggish the game felt compared to DKC or even Mario 64.
I decided to ask my dad for THPS instead because they showed gameplay clips on MTV Loveline when Tony Hawk was a guest and it looked sick and very fast. Little did I know I was getting the way better collect-a-thon game.

It's a game that gets better the more you replay it imo, knowing where everything is and what to do makes for way less swapping and faster progress, game is also very relaxing to play, just finding shit while exploring the worlds, comfy stuff.

This game is difficult in areas. I had some trouble with the jack in the box boss on the factory level. Took me somewhere between 50-100 attempts.The puffer fish one was difficult too.

I recently played it because /vr/ seems to like it and I honestly don’t know why. Perhaps it’s because my first DK game we DKC, followed by DKC2/3, but DK64 is the biggest piece of dog shit I’ve ever witnessed.

I watched a Let's Play of this game once out of curiosity, knowing I would never learn about it any other way because even the best collectathons are right on the edge of irritating me. It looked bad overall, but it had some nice character to it in lots of places so I can understand why many people would end up liking it.
