Donkey Kong Country is truly perfect. If you do not get this amazing new generation of Donkey Kong madness, you are STUPID.
Imagine if donkey kong got breast cancer
Did you know that DKC2โDonkey Madness was originally called Yoshi Yoshi Island in Japan?
>The game is so hard that it seems almost impossible. In fact, the game IS impossible in the later levels.
>After you clear the later levels, you get to face King K. Rool himself!
>>11833794 (OP)Yes I know, that's insulting, but it's also the truth.
How did Rare manage to make a grown gorilla cute?
>>11833794 (OP)It really isn't. I had it has a kid so I have nostalgia for it and yet I don't hold it in particular high regard, it's a very run of the mill platformer. Krool music is a banger and the art style felt novel at the time but my high praise ends there.
>>11834171Donkey Kong Country is a great game but it is a massive disappointment.
>>11834171oh. well i got DKC as a kid and have 100%+ all of them among numerous other platformers from that era and beyond and i gotta say after all these years the original DKC is by far one of the most perfect and best platformers i have ever played easily.
>>11833794 (OP)It's good for what it is, loved it as a kid, but every time I fire it up now I get bored within a few levels and quit
Final Fantasy VII is just like the previous Final Fantasy games. Geez, Square! Try something new for once!
The battle system is annoying to use, and I challenge Square to create a combat system that lets us get into wild all-out brawls!
Bottom line: Unlike Crash Bandicoot 2, Final Fantasy VII doesn't innovate or experiment. It's more of the same, and that's exactly what I wanted!
It's shit. The only "challenging"(annoying/frustrating) parts have little to do with platforming as it's just barrel aiming fuckery.
I would have to replay it to pinpoint why it feels so off to me but at the top of my head I believe if there was a health bar(and health pickups) it would feel a lot better and allow for much more intense elaborate combat and platforming since levels could be designed with room to make mistakes.
Also have the animal buddy gimmick not be this make or break bonus thing that can be lost and instead tailor make the stages for their mandatory use to take full advantage of them without having to worry about designing things so you can still beat the level if you lose the animal.
the art style is hideous and makes the controls feel stiffer than they actually are. if it were proper nice looking 2D spritework it would have been a good game, but the god awful claymation made it literally unplayable
>>11834573The art style is literally the game's greatest redeeming quality
>>11833805Calm down there George Wood
>>11834578it doesn't redeem shit. it's an aesthetic nightmare.
I like the lore implications of apes and crocodiles having opposable thumbs
>>11834440this
all video games from the 90s do for me is make me realize how bad it has gotten since then
the fact that they could release 30 great games every 2 years or so compared to 3 good games every 3 years now is only proof that they really screwed it up badly
feminism is no fun
>>11834764(also globalism is no fun)
>>11834764>>11834770it's hypercapitalism youre upset at. good games dont need companies thousands of salaried employees making door opening code and 4k dirt textures
>>11836019>>11834578Not him but it hasn't aged well. While it looked impressive for the time for it's quasi-3D, it just looks bad now because...well we're not impressed by 3D graphics anymore and it doesn't stand on anything but that 'wow!' factor.
>>11834801Sounds more like feature, graphic and size bloat.
