What are the good Sonic games beside the mainline ones? I only heard of Tails Adventure being good and that's it.

I hear Sonic the Fighters is getting some huge love and a scene as of late.

Knuckles Chaotix is absolute kino when you play it with a friend. I played it with my brother the other day and being able to mess with him by randomly pressing the “Hold” mechanic was fucking hilarious. Reminded me of New Super Mario Bros Wii, where you can bump into one another and throw each other.
Sega really messed up by not being the tether mechanic back. Infinite trolling capabilities.
You can actually do a lot of insane Speedrun tech with the tether’s pull mechanic was well, where you jump, pull back and charge, and finally launch both of your characters. It sort of acts like flicking a rubberband, or throwing a character in Angry Birds:

Sonic R is pretty good if you play as Knuckles and ignore the other characters

I played through the whole thing as a kid on a borrowed Genesis and enjoyed it. I also enjoyed one or two of the tunes enough that I can still run them through my head thirty years later. I have ZERO memory of that menu music from my actual time with the game. Listen to individual people here, but don't listen to the /vr/ hivemind or any other hivemind. Nobody trustworthy seriously cares much about that stupid turret room in Mega Man 2 either. Stuff like that is just noise.
