Okay… so a lot of Nintendo and retro games mean a lot to me and other people. I would not be the person I am today if I had not played these games and embarked on these adventures. They have very obviously left a strong emotional touchstone in my life and bring memories of happiness, sadness, etc. I guess what I learned is, even if you come from a culture far away and we may have nothing common, you can still have a very profound effect on me.

Same here. That surfing minigame in Pokemon Yellow was fun, played it all the time.

That's nice and all.
The autistic part is thinking that this is a Nintendo thing and not a universal human experience you could have with any video game, band, artist, tv show, book, sport, etc.

the legit way is beat the hardest pokemon stadium cup with pikachu and you get given a surfing pikachu that you have to transfer back to yellow. I doubt kids were doing that but its not impossible.

I just gamesharked a pikachu with surf and called it a day. I dont know if I was just a retarded kid or something but I remember stadium being stupidly hard, especially compared to the piss easy handheld games.

Yeah I did. I was obsessed with Pikachu as a kid (beat Red using basically nothing but a Pikachu without evolving it until Level 100). So when I found out Pikachu could learn Surf, I went for it immediately. I also played Pokemon obsessively back then, so I had a full team ready and didn't need rentals.
>I doubt kids were doing that but its not impossible.
It's easier than it sounds, since you don't actually ever have to use Pikachu in the fights. You just need one in your party. Round 2 Prime Cup Master Ball division isn't that bad, since you could still use Mewtwo.

Wasn't your imagination, Stadium was way harder. Which was nice, because it gave Gen 1 some challenging post game battles.

Corny and overly earnest post but you're not wrong.
Additionally, I also used to collect games (a LONG time ago) and hunting down games in different places and posting about them on an old message board really left an impression on me as a kid.

This is true. For whatever reason, you seem to see this the most with Nintendo stuff to the point where you see people spending ridiculous amounts of money trying to re-engage with their childhood. They really are the Disney of video games.

nah. I bought my copy of Yellow used at a blockbuster in central florida. I was short a couple bucks because of the tax and the girl at the counter spotted me because I was clearly devastated. Good memories.
