It was pretty enjoyable for what it was, especially with there being not a lot of ocean-based horror games. Just a damn shame that the game was too easy and it didn't have any post-game unlockables.

This, Countdown Vampires, that Ring game... so many shitty survival horror games coming out at the time.

Countdown Vampires is one of the best ones.

Deep Fear also has really good execution, the main problem with it is that it's too easy and that the survival mechanics barely matter. For instance the Air meter was a great idea on paper, but in essence you're never going to run out. The game also provides infinite supplies.
I genuinely blame the Japanese version of RE2 and how easy it is for so many Japanese devs not understanding the "survival" part of survival horror.

Haven't played the Japanese version but the International one is easy as fuck too, especially compared to 1

Does it really count as an answer when Sega had Resident Evil on both Saturn and Dreamcast?

CountDown Vampires is interesting because it invented crimson heads oh and there are not a lot of games out there where you unlock more parts of the story each playthrough.
Oh and I don't mean that solely in the form of alternative endings.
Imagine if during the 1st playthrough of RE1 neither Barry or Wesker ever appear as Jill.

Deep Fear is the C-movie (if it existed) to RE1s B-movie and it shows.

I have never played this game but I remember looking at some creature concept art and the monsters were neat. Funnily enough, years later Cold Fear was released; another RE clone with cool monsters and a maritime setting.

They are pretty cool. I had bought the Japanese guide which had art for all of them. I think it's on archive.org now.
