They dont make em like this anymore
A true hidden gem that noone knows, yet the production level is pure quality.

and thank goodness. atlus was a trash company. the number of good games they made you can count on a couple of fingers.

To me they were great publishers or producers. Devlopers not so much, but they somehow had to do with every great arcade game back then.

Honestly I love companies with a high game turnout. Make PRODUCT not just one piece of shit that comes out and they go under.

Pixelarts was just a team at SCE. These days they make those low quality nintendo games like splatoon, zelda and xenoblade. It's a real shame but nintendo always does this instead of having them make interesting games like SCE did.

In Japan this game was published by SCE. Atlus just did it domestically as a partner.

The setting felt so interesting, I wish they had more games in that setting set on the ground or open world or something just so I could explore.

I like that you can play in 240p to improve performance.

This game had great aesthetics and atmosphere, but the fact that they make you play through like a full hour of tutorials, then drop you straight into an ultra-hard boss battle in the very first level completely put me off. What an awful first impression it leaves, and it's why I never was able to get into it.

>ultra-hard
The game is very easy, just mash buttons if you get hit. I like that it has a scoring system tho

Atlus didn't make Skygunner, smartie pants.

Nope. How boring to confine the creators of bombastic, skygunner and chaindive on rehashed and dull franchise slop that is immediately forgotten by its consumers.

Are their other games as good as ChainDive? It's their only game I've played, and I had a great time with it.

This game is genuinely terrible. Fuck you faggot weebs for tricking me into this shit. Yes it looks good and no that doesn't make it good

Not hidden at all
>Bouncer
May be more hidden nowadays but certainly not a gem
>Code Age Commander
Unplayable unless you know nihongo. But could classify if so.

Quality varies but the people who worked on skygunner have a ton of experience. Some of them worked on a physics driven 3d platformer that predates Mario 64 by half a year. Bombastic is the sequel to devil dice, skygunner has an awesome scoring and combo system and a captivating world. You've probably enjoyed other games they contributed to like madworld and the wonderful 101.

I’ve read that this game is literally just score attack against cpus, like every stage is needing to make sure you shoot down more targets than a cpu competitor
That sounds unbelievably unfun
Maybe one or two stages but who the fuck wants an entire game with that kind of stress? Constantly worrying if the cpu is going to randomly go balls out and get a 16 kill streak and ruin your playthrough?

Nah that's retarded.
It's like playing a racing game where the CPU can get a burst of speed at literally any time.

It is a shame that the kinds of games I like are no longer made. They mailed out free demos to the game to everyone, and it was enough to convince me to get the game when it was released. It is quality for sure, but it was targeted for mass appeal, but sadly my opinion and tastes does not match what most others like, so it is understandable that there's not much in momentum to create more similar games.

Considering no one remembers any of those games, it seems like they ended up exactly where they were destined to be.
