how were 7 year olds in 96 supposed to figure this out? even with all the clues its far from easy or obvious. the only letter given to you is the l, the r and s have multiple spots they can be. Im pretty sure I didnt even have a conception of what pearls were when I was that age. even as a fully formed adult this was too difficult.

>its a word
>there is an "S" in the word
>the word is something found on the ocean floor
>the word has 2 vowels
>the word has 4 consonants
>at least 2 consonants are touching (this clue is actually useless, considering the previous two clues. you cant break up a 6 letter word with 2 vowels in a way that 2 consonants arent touching).
>the word has an "R" and an "L", with the "R" coming before the "L"
it literally gives you 3 of the letters, and the order of 2 of them. how many 6 letter nautical words fit this criteria? its literally just corals and pearls.

if you truly cant figure it out as a kid (sorry for your IEP, faggot), then ask an older sibling or an adult. or buy the strategy guide, lol. it really isnt that hard.

It's pretty easy when you look at the possible letters, and consider what word types they could make. there's only a few possible bases/combination outside of really weird edge case words. Took me like 5 minutes and I only had the hint about the s and l and r. But the main hint is just that it's found at the bottom of the sea. Even just knowing it's a six letter word found at the bottom of the sea, you couldd find it by bruteforce pretty quick

You could also just do the 3D maze if you're struggling.

Now, out of those words, how many have an R before an L?

Japanese version seems easier to brute-force, but that may be due to limitations. Interesting that this thread also came up with corals and oysters from the English version, so if misdirection was intentional then pearls is a very good replacement.

At the time, video games were usually played by more well off social groups who were often better educated than the masses on average. It's not that others couldn't afford them at the time, it's just that the perception was that video games were only played by pasty white nerds. As such, most development, especially for RPGs, assumed a certain level of education.

Nah. Homeschoolers are fucking retarded. They have no idea how to work in a group, have practically no social skills and since they've never been challenged in what they know or believe by peers, tend to be either extremely arrogant or extremely fragile when their worldview turns out to not be shared with others. Anything in between these extreme is a rare fucking blessing. They're the goddamn worst.

It's honestly a mixed bag. They do tend to be brighter than public school students but they do seem to be more socially stunted than them too. Neither of those are a hard and fast rule, but that does seem to be how things gravitate.

Personally, I wouldn't homeschool my kid because I think navigating the public school system is invaluable social experience, but I did volunteer to teach math and IT/programming/basic computer skills to a group of homeschooled kids on Fridays. Their parents meant well, but I have a dual masters degree in CIS and math, so I felt like I would be better suited to do it for middle/high school school students. The students were overall fairly quick to grasp the subjects and their standardized test scores reflected it, not that those tests are particularly difficult.

I'm not so sure about that. Logically speaking, people in more regular contact with others, especially those of the opposite sex, are far more likely to have engaged in sexual activity. I can't speak to how things are now, but pretty much no one in my high school graduating class was a virgin by the time they left, not that that's a good thing.

“Home school” is somewhat of a misnomer because they’re not always, maybe even commonly, literally schooled at home, alone. I’m aware of many home school groups in my area that meet and confer with each other. Maybe you’re actually speaking from experience with multiple home schooled people you’ve met, but if not you’re also presupposing they’d never encounter a situation where they would meet other kids, like playgrounds or libraries.
Somewhat of a tangent, but if you’re a parent and you’re relying solely on school to socialize your kid, you’re a bad parent.

What irks me is the whole process could be more efficient, if all those people trying to homeschool their kids would get together and figure out how to work it.

Like, I'm >>11864415 and I only taught about 8 or so kids. I could reasonably make the class public and structure it as such with a set curriculum focused on educating anyone enrolled. It would sit somewhere between a public school and homeschool, more akin to learning a trade or similar.

But a lot of parents are selfish and want the small class size and convenience. I can understand that, but their kids would get better teaching with many people pooling their resources like a public school. It's just that public school is fettered by a state mandated curriculum and the worst, a no child left behind policy that really translates to no one gets ahead.
