1990s had soul.
2000s also had soul, but these decades in gaming all have different kinds of soul. I feel that gaming soul began truly dying during the 2010s.

It seems that way because Sony was pushing for PS2kino, making games with soul look derivative, kind of like 2D games made after the 3D transition. The soul was there, it was just self-fulfilling prophecies of underratedness.
