Did you ever consider yourself a top level player at a specific game?

I used to obsessively try to find glitches in jak and daxter. Idk about top level, but I got really good at manipulating the physics.

I place top 3 at a stacked 3rd Strike local every month, perennial top 8er at majors when i bother to go. I'm nothing special at any other retro games though

I used to be godlike at Kof 2002 in its heyday. That’s partly because i always played with this other guy who was just as good and obsessed with fighters as I was. You can’t be top tier unless you have someone who can challenge you constantly. There were plenty of other players but none of them were on our level. We used the random select most times and still beat everyone. I saw a video of Justin wong playing it the other day and I know he’s not that familiar with the game but he just played so sloppy I would have wiped the floor with him.

Not even close. Maybe amongst my friends.

I could speedrun Dino Crisis 2 at 40 something minutes when I was 12 with zero effort. Nothing compared to today but I thought I was good and also thought the rating would unlock alternative ending than the cliffhanger shit we got.
