Why does almost no one talk about street fighter lore? I don't think he's the best but I'm curious to know his story.

Street Fighter lore is really barebones and complete shit compared to KoF lore. The udon comics are the only things that have actually tried to create a backstory for any of the games and they are notoriously badly written with zero character development

SF lore is a weird nonsensical place because it had no storyline until Hasbro made one, which was then adapted to the games but with more weird shit added, so it became this triple layer of disconnected characters and weirdness , it's interesting but a clusterfuck

It gets the respect of creating the genre, but because it was the first it also didn't have the foresight to know story based games like Fatal Fury and Mortal Kombat would have those appeals to gamers. Honestly Street Fighter's story since day dot has just been the artists coming up with cool shit for the guys they designed. Character designers are like worldbuilding autists but with people instead of continents, they giggle like schoolgirls when they draw a motherfucker with a gun and a sword and then tell you about his lame hobbies. hopes and dreams and blood type. It's awesome. Having said that, being given breadcrumbs of a story, a what-if scenario for each ending where potentially only one is gonna be canon in the next game (barring updates, prequels, etc) and a diverse range of characters all vying towards a single goal is a great sandbox for a story, I'm sure you all had your imaginations run wild with what all these guys' deals was.

There are people who do, though? It's just not the "DEEPEST" lore out there, not on the level of an RPG. But if people didn't care about these characters outside of move lists and hit boxes, then you wouldn't have stuff like the 90's anime adaptation. That’s Charlie, Guile’s best friend. Either he was murdered by Bison while on assignment which gives Guile his motivation for wanting to end Shadaloo and kill Bison. I believe it was maybe retconned at some point that he may have been experimented on and is actually Blanka, but I’m not sure on that one.

The more games they made the stupider it got. There wasn't much there to begin with, but the little story was interesting. Then by the third Alpha game things were getting very convoluted since they now included every SSFII Character muddying things up but it was ok, then SFIII came out with its bizarre story that polarized fans.
Fans were able to slowly accept it but then IV came out taking place before 3, then 5 came out and 6 and since they can't get rid of legacy characters story is a complete mess. SF lore is interesting in the beginning up to Alpha 2, after that each entry is only messing things up more for the lore, so its up to the fan on where they draw the line, I tapped out at IV but I can see why some lore fags would have tapped out before or even after depends on your tolerance to BS.

Oh for sure, I definitely can't stand a lot of the new at the time 3D-era stuff, the only newcomers I cared for were Kenshi and Havik but that's not an unpopular opinion by any stretch. I was however really happy in the direction a lot of pre-existing characters were going, minus a bunch of the abandoned story from Gold (Kung Lao + Goro, Scorp 'n Subby Dream Team), they did take the ball and run with Government Agent Cyrax for some reason. They must've really liked that one. Both Konquest stories were major mistakes. In a way, I'm reminded of the forward motion something like Tekken 4 had, as opposed to now where it's frozen in time like a sitcom.
