Apparently this game has 5 frames of input lag on the jump and requires you to hold jump for 3 frames or else it just eats your input.

In case you didn't already have enough reasons to hate this stupid game.

If you are playing the shitty ports, that is going to add an extra 2 frames of lag on top of that, you poor bastard.

unless the input lag is unplayable (like you literally can't react in time) you can get adjusted to it. it is a weird design to input lag into the game itself but it might have a purpose like how you don't instantly attack where you were looking when you hit the attack button in LttP or Dark Souls.

Input lag affects you whether you perceive it or not. It reduces your reaction time and screws with your timing. Also eating jumps where you tap the button quickly is just nonsense since it doesn't do that for attacks or movements.

Dracula X is one of tighest most responsive game there is. The player->game response time is on par with the best NES action games, meaning next to zero input lag, short and fast animation, what you press is what you instantly get.

You mean hopping while you're in the stairs, or landing on the stars from a previous jump?
Landing on stairs, IV did it first. It doesn't let you jump up after you're on the stairs though, like in CV1 and III.
Rondo lets you land from a jump on them and also jump while on the stairs. Bloodlines is the same as Rondo in that regard.

That and the fact that the normal/default route literally only has one original music track, the rest being NES arrangements, and then Stage 7 is just remixes of those three again in one melody. The actual new music being stuck on the retarded alternate route is a giant mark against Rondo.
