Every change they made is for the worse. The extra tanks are now trash because you need to grind to refill them. The dash is worse than the slide because slide allowed you to maneuver around enemies and the dash doesn't. Plus the terrible control scheme makes it so I keep activating it by accident when doing small adjustments. Why is every power just a slight variation on a straight projectile? The NES ones would at least have one or two unique powers per game, not to mention the lack of Rush powers. And the addition of wall jumping is the worst part. It ruins both the platforming and the boss fights because now you have long sections where you have to repeatedly hump the wall while waiting out enemy attacks. And of course the one thing that did need fixing in the NES ones which is bosses raping you with contact damage is kept in (and made worse). I'm not a nostalgiafag, I'm playing all these for the first time in chronological order so my opinion is unbiased and correct.

Megaman NES is boring as hell man. Megaman X has got dashes, wall jumps, the controls feel tight and being able to instantly cancel jumps out of dashing feels great. You guys enjoy your shitty ass jank NES boomer games I guess. You aren't cooler for being contrarian.

I agree but just due to personal preference. I want my little dude to go left to right and complete an obstacle course in a platformer. I dont want to be hunting and pecking for two dozen upgrades. I'll play an adventure game for that.

You call torpedos, tornados, flamethrowers, boomerangs and rollo shields SLIGHT variations?
>not to mention the lack of Rush powers
Light capsule upgrades AND charged versions of every single attack. The penguin sled. Not to mention wall jumps.
>And the addition of wall jumping is the worst part
WHAT WOULD YOU EVEN WANT RUSH FOR THEN
> It ruins both the platforming and the boss fights because now you have long sections where you have to repeatedly hump the wall while waiting out enemy attacks
You don't have to do any of that. At least not in X1. Walljumping for the most part is just an option. Liar.

It takes less than two minutes to fill all four. Go to the start of the armadillo stage. Activate the Rolling Shield then go ham on all the bats at the start of the area. Getting extra E-Tanks takes way longer. You can even farm that one special bat for max lives if you want.

Man, the octopus is the one boss in that game that I can never get right. I always end up just tanking damage since his attacks are all over the place.

>You call torpedos, tornados, flamethrowers, boomerangs and rollo shields SLIGHT variations?
Yes, it's all directional projectiles, with slight variation in trajectory or duration. NES ones had more unique things like time stopping powers, screen clears, shields, platform makers, rideable bomb arrows that stick to walls, hell even top spin, as shit as it was, was mechanically unique.
>WHAT WOULD YOU EVEN WANT RUSH FOR THEN
Rush powers were fun. Wall jumping is not. It also ruins level design because you can't have more interesting layouts since wall jumping breaks them. Instead you have long vertical stretches where you hump the wall while being attacked by a million flying things.
>Walljumping for the most part is just an option. Liar.
Maybe there's different ways to dodge most boss attacks, I don't know, but there's a boss fight where you're forced to wall jump because the walls close in around you over a pit.

Mega Man X1 is the rare actual 10/10 game, almost impossible to perfect further.
And anything else is contrarianism.

It's a cliche to say but MM2 is legitimately the only good classic MM. The more 'modern' entries like 9 and 10 being the absolute fucking worst.

the more modern entries like 9, 10, and 11 are the absolute fucking best, you retard. there's literally no reason anyone would like 2 but hate those games, well maybe they don't like 11 for the charge shot or whatever but unlike in earlier games lemons are an equally viable option, neither invalidates each other.

Forcing you to play Chill Penguin stage to get the dash forever prevents it from being perfect.

There's also how dumb and useless the head part is.

You need to play Xtreme 2 as Zero you get the head upgrade and literally nothing to use it on

True, this is a big negative for it. I always use that one password to start with the dash so I'm free to play in any order.

I initially thought it was overrated but I've come around to the X series.
You basically do have to go out of your way for the extra tanks

It's great for a first playthrough.
Because everyone seemingly INVARIABLY picks Chill Penguin first. He looks the easiest, and is. And it clues you into existence of other capsules. Pretty well hidden, but this one you can't miss.

But overall, yes.
After the credits, there should be some text
"Hold L+R on Game Start"
And when you try it, you automatically start with the dash boots. At the highway stage. And that's all it does.

That would perfect the game just a bit further.

Also a piece of terrain in Armored Armadillo which can be only broken by Hadouken, which leads into a much longer minecart ride, which was clearly the coolest bit in the game, and should've gone for longer.

They should have just found a way to incorporate the boots capsule into the intro stage, or made it improve an existing dash move instead of being the only way to do it. There are lots of ways to fix this problem.

Wat? If anything the dash allows you to maneuver around them even more since it lets you jump over them.

I think he means that the slide lowers your hitbox profile so you can go under projectiles that would otherwise hit you, while the dash doesn't, or at least not to the degree of the slide.

Does this game drop inputs sometimes, the dash in particular, or is it a problem on my end? I'm not playing the collection, I'm emulating.
