I think I haven't seen one of these since the hack. Post your screencaps, settings, anything else, and hear others shit on your shader while they proclaim theirs is the best; why you're dumb for not playing raw; and let's hear your lamentations about megabezel melting down your computer in the middle of summer.

Pic rel is royale + blargg. Simple but it just werks.

I've been tweaking to achieve a decent low TVL look as of late. You know how everyone complains about scanlines and screenshots not looking "like my CRT". Well, it's somewhat of a fair complaint since most shaders attempt to mimic high grade CRTs and PVMs instead of the most common consumer sets. I think I'm satisfied with the result. This is my Guest Advanced preset for 1080p. If you're interested, ask and I'll upload the settings.

Some more screens to come

Those people are just low IQ shitposters who say stupid shit like shaders mimicking photos of CRTs and not actual CRTs which is bullshit

I don't know why you wouldn't use one of the many Cyberlab presets though

I've been messing around with shaders lately and the koko presets are probably the best I've seen so far. It's insane how good it looks at 4k with hdr for the extra luminance. I did tweaked it though, removing the tube geometry and disabling the interlaced effect but still, I just prefer it now over raw pixels.

Screenshots are impossible because every person has a different calibration for their monitors, so it will look different no matter what.

A bit unrelated but recently I tested retroarch on a new Windows 10 install, exact same computer, just going from retroarch version 1.9.8 to 1.21.0 and now the CRT hyllian filters take ridiculously long to load. It used to be a solid 3 seconds before but now it takes like 8 seconds. I tried changing options around (like the delay thing, or renderer) but nothing works so far. Is it just slow on the new retroarch versions or did I screw up something?

>>11876240
I keep hearing you have to use them at 4k to get the best results. I don't know if you are on 1080p or so but it should get better at higher res.

Mate, I stated my intentions in my post. I was going for a specific "budget TV" look on that one setting, and from my point of view it's ok. It might look less crappy if you sit a bit further back; the thing with TVL is that the lower it is, the further away you should sit to mentally "blend" the phosphors; that's why your mom told ya to not sit so close to the TV, because the pattern might cause a headache.

Perhaps you like a more traditional high TVL look like pic rel, idk, that's the thing with shaders, they're like asses, everyone has one, different from the others. Anyways, post a shader you like to have a better idea of what you consider optimal.

no i just don't remember how games use to look on TVs, thats my problem. I think I just need to get myself a CRT and not fucking around with shaders anymore cause i'm forgetting what shit actually use to look like and its making me sad.

Your mileage may vary but I've been consistently pleased with crt-hylian at 1280x1024 on my monitor. Main things I normally adjust are

Post Brightness - up it to 1.40, offsets the dimming effect of the shader
Scanline strength - this can go up to 1.00

I also disable the curvature since I'm already playing on a VGA monitor

I've never gotten that to look right, and Lord knows I've tried. It may be my graphics card. I'm planning to do a late-gen AMD with VGA out retro PC build fairly soon so I can just do native 240p and cut out the middleman, but this has overall been more satisfactory than troubleshooting super resolutions and interlacing shaders.
